Modern Medley Designer Paper Ruffles

__________________________________________________________________________

Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm so excited about tonight's "Last Thursdays" card class because I'm highlighting Designer Series Paper in a variety of ways!  The Stampin' Up! catalog has so many beautiful papers, and right now you can save with the July Buy 3, Get 1 FREE Designer Series Paper promo!

Today's card design focuses on my favorite papers from this year…Modern Medley!

Medley birthday - two cool

I found this design online and knew I had to create if for this class.  What better way to showcase the fabulous patterns than by adding several scalloped layers to a card?  And, what better way to use up some of those scraps?!!!

CASE'd from Brenda Keenan at Keenan's Kreations.

I selected six different patterns and cut them into 4" x 1" strips.  To achieve this "ruffled" scallop look, you'll want to be sure to stagger your die-cutting so the scallops are offset on each row.

I had three strips of lighter color papers, so I stacked them and lined up the Large Scallop Edgelit so it cut full scallops.

On the remaining three darker papers, I lined up the edgelit so that it began in the center of the scallops.

I alternated the light and dark papers and adhered them to the 4" x 5-1/4" Very Vanilla layer.  TIP: I only applied SNAIL along the top, non-scallop edge of each strip, so I could bend up the scallops to make them appear more dimensional and ruffly.

For the bow, I wrapped a piece of the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon around the ruffled layer and adhered the ends to the back.  The bow was created separately and attached with a Glue Dot on top.

I used markers to color the You're Amazing birthday sentiment on the second Marina Mist version, then added some Rhinestone Jewels.

Which version of these two cool cards do you like better?
