Beautiful Day Vellum Butterfly Cards

I sure have been seeing an amazing amount of pretty butterflies this year…more than I've ever seen before! It made me want to create a pretty butterfly card in my favorite colors! I CASEd this card design from a swap card I received from Darla Eigenschink.

Background Basics—This card begins by stamping the butterfly image from the Beautiful Day stamp set in StazOn Ink onto a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White. I positioned the butterfly at an angle in the upper right corner, leaving enough room for the sentiment banner. I adhered that background onto a card base in Basic Black. Next, I adhered a 1-1/2" x 4" piece of Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper onto a 1-5/8" x 4" piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. It's mounted onto the background overlapping the butterfly wing just a bit.

Beautiful Butterfly—I stamped the butterfly image again in StazOn Ink onto Vellum Cardstock. Then, I used Stampin' Blends Markers to color on the back of the vellum. I love using Blends, because they don't leave marker strokes in the colored blocks. I used Dark Old Olive, Dark Rich Razzleberry, Dark Bermuda Bay and Light Bermuda Bay Blends colors. I hand-cut the butterfly with super-sharp Paper Snips and attached it with a couple of Glue Dots in the center of the butterfly. I bent up the wings slightly, then added a couple of pink Artisan Pearls on the body.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Beautiful Day greeting in StazOn ink onto a 3" x 1/2" strip of Pool Party cardstock, fishtailed the end, then popped it up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—My second version is a lighter color combo. It starts with a Petal Pink card base, then I added a Grapefruit Grove pattern of Share What You Love DSP to a Grapefruit Grove mat.

Butterfly Beauty—This butterfly was colored with Dark Calypso Coral, Dark Highland Heather, Dark Granny Apple Green and Light Bermuda Bay. I added Grapefruit Grove Artisan Pearls on the body.
