Beautiful Friends Are Like Seashells Cards
Create the look of the ocean floor with the beautiful detailed images from the Friends Are Like Seashells set! I love how these cards turned out with stamping on the background and to create amazing focal point shells! Here's how they came together…
Background Basics—I started by adhering a 5-1/2" x 1-1/2" piece of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper to a strip of 5-1/2" x 1-5/8" piece of Soft Suede. I used this layered element to help me position the background stamping that I did on the Gray Granite card base. I stamped the two sea plant images, as well as the bubbles/dots image in Gray Granite, so that the images were peeking out to the upper left and bottom right of where I planned on adhering the DSP layers. Those bubbles really make the look of the ocean floor, and they are also so versatile for all kinds of flecked additions on other cards, too!
Sweet Sentiment—I die-cut a Basic White label using the Hippo & Friends Dies (a must-have die-set, for sure!). I inked up the large splotch image from Friends Are Like Seashells in Crumb Cake, stamped off one time, then stamped it on the top of the label. I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink over the top, then popped it up onto the card front with Dimensionals.
Sensational Shells—Using Basic White scrap cardstock, I stamped the large shell in Crumb Cake, the smaller shell in Gray Granite and the starfish in Misty Moonlight, stamped off once to look like the already sold out Seaside Spray In Color. The starfish has it's own die from the Seaside Seashells Dies. The other two images can be mostly die-cut using the large background die from that set. I just stamped the image on separate scraps of Basic White, lined them up with the large die and ran it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. There will still be parts of the images that have to be trimmed from the image, but it does make it a little faster than fussy-cutting alone. All shells are popped up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I added a few gold Metallic Pearls floating around the bubbles to add to the pretty neutral palette.
Two Cool—I made my second card a vertical orientation, using a different pattern of Sand & Sea DSP on a layer of Sahara Sand. I stamped the starfish images in So Saffron ink onto a So Saffron card base before adhering the DSP layers.
Sweet Sentiment—I used the same Hippo & Friends dies label, but stamped the smaller blotch in stamped off Sahara Sand with a Blushing Bride sentiment over the top.
Sweet Shells—The large shell is stamped in Sahara Sand and the starfish is stamped in So Saffron. Both are popped up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—This time, I scattered some Champagne Rhinestones around the card front and tied some Linen Thread around it, fraying the ends for a more nautical look.
