Cottage Wall Treat Bag With Fleurettes

Fancy Favor Cottage Wall FleurettesAside from cards, my favorite kind of project has got to be little treat holders and party favors!  (It could be partially due to my love of treats!)  Mostly, I like seeing all of the different ways you can wrap up goodies to wow the recipient—what I like to call a Too Cool Moment!

Treat Bag How-To: The Fancy Favor Bigz XL Die makes this particular treat holder a breeze to make!  I ran a sheet of the beautiful Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper through the Big Shot with this die, creased on the score lines, adhered the bottom and it was ready to be decorated!

Although you can't see it here, I added Jumbo Eyelets to the tops of the bag and secured it closed with a 1/2" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Old Olive through the eyelet centers.

Flower Embellishments: In my previous post, I mentioned how easy it was to dye ribbon with Refill Inkers.  I used the same technique to dye the these pretty, white, hand-crocheted Fleurettes

First I saturated the flowers in water, so they would soak up the ink more easily.  Then I dipped them in a mixture of a little water and several drops of ink in a small plastic cup.  (The more ink, the truer the color).  The yarn really soaks up A LOT of color, so you'll need to be generous with your ink to get full coverage. Once they are thoroughly covered, pull the flowers out of the dye with tweezers, blot them with paper towels, and let them dry completely.  TIP: Using a heat gun too close to the flowers to hurry up the drying process could singe your flowers.  Wouldn't recommend it unless you're going for that burnt look *wink*.

Each package of Fleurettes comes with 12 flowers: four each of three sizes.  I dyed the largest with Rich Razzleberry and the smallest with Pale Plum, layered them, and added a Clear Rhinestone Brad center.  You may recognize that the leaves are from the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt Flowers—they go with so many things!  Be sure to order these before they are gone on April 30!
