Delicate Dahlias You Inspire Me Cards
Do you ever have trouble coming up with color combinations? I was feeling a bit stuck in that area as I designed cards for the Delicate Dahlias class, so I turned to the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog for some inspiration. I love that they share so many ideas in there! I found two fresh color combinations featuring colors I don't typically use together and used them for this pair of cards. Let me know what you think!
Background Basics—The background begins by "die-cutting" the beautiful leafy pattern onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Sea Foam with the Stitched Greenery die (I think I mistakenly referred to it as Pretty Petals, but that is an embossing folder). It's adhered to a Soft Sea Foam card base. Next, I added a 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock as a foundation for the focal point.
Lovely Blooms—I die-cut a fancy shape using the Hippo & Friends Dies, then stamped over most of it using the two-step images from the Delicate Dahlias stamp set. First, I stamped the large flower in Misty Moonlight, then stamped with the fill image in Misty Moonlight that's stamped-off once. I added several leaves outlines in Pear Pizzazz and filled those with Soft Sea Foam images. I finished with small blooms in Bumblebee outline and fill images, hand-cut. The label and the small blooms are popped up onto the card front with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—I stamped the Delicate Dahlias sentiment onto a 2-1/4 x 1/2" piece of So Saffron cardstock, then adhered it to the focal point. I finished by adding some Mango Melody gems from the Holiday Rhinestones pack on the blooms and near the sentiment.
Two Cool—For my second card, I embossed the Mint Macaron background layer with the Bark 3D Embossing Folder, then added a layer of Crumb Cake on the top.
Pretty Blooms—This time I stamped the large flower in Fresh Freesia, the leaves in Mint Macaron and the smaller flowers in Calypso Coral.
Finishing Touches—The sentiment was stamped in Gray Granite onto a Pretty Petals label. I gave it some sparkle with some Champagne Rhinestones.
