Daisy delight wistera - two cool

Shimmering Delightful Daisy Cards

I spent the weekend playing with some of my new goodies in preparation for our Too Cool Team event last night and I couldn't wait to show you my swap card!  The Delightful Daisy Suite of products is an early favorite for me!  The Designer Series Paper patterns are so soft & pretty!  I used two of my favorites from the pack on these sweet "thank you" cards.

Daisy delight thank you - wisteria 1

Background Basics—I started by cutting two 5" x 1" strips of the pretty Delightful Daisy DSP and adhering them to the top and bottom of a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Night of Navy layer. I love the soft blends of Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Night of Navy, Old Olive and Tranquil Tide.

But, what is really TOO COOL is how the softer shades of these colors look like other colors from our Stampin' Up! color collection.  The lighter shade of Calypso Coral looks like Peekaboo Peach, which I used as my accent color.  And the lighter Night of Navy has a Wisteria Wonder feel, so that color also looks great with these papers!

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the large "thank you" from the new Daisy Delight stamp set in Night of Navy ink onto a 5" x 2" piece of Whisper White.  It's adhered to the background layer with SNAIL.  I tied some Thick Whisper White Baker's Twine around that layer and frayed the ends, then mounted everything onto a Wisteria Wonder card base.

Delightful Daisy—I stamped the pretty Daisy Delight image two times onto Whisper White card stock: once in Wisteria Wonder and once in Night of Navy.  I used the corresponding ink pad and a Wink of Stella clear glimmer brush to add a soft wash of color inside the petal outlines.  Simply squeeze the ink pad before opening to transfer the ink to the lid, then use that as your color palette. Pick up the color with the Wink of Stella brush and "watercolor" paint with it onto the petals!  Shimmery goodness!

IMPORTANT TIP #1: Be sure to brush onto scrap paper between colors until the glimmer runs clear.

IMPORTANT TIP #2: If you use the Wink of Stella on the lid, you'll want to wipe up the ink from the lid after you're done.  You don't want the glimmer residue to contaminate your ink pad!

I stamped the Daisy Delight center in Peekaboo Peach onto Whisper White, then added glimmer to that, too!

Daisy Assembly—After letting the Wink of Stella dry, I punched the flower images with the NEW Daisy Punch.  To give the blooms some realistic dimension, I used a Bone Folder to gently curve each petal down, then I bent the petals at the base to lift them up and make the center sink in a bit.  I adhered the Wisteria Wonder flower on top of the Night of Navy flower using Glue Dots, then mounted them on the card front with more Glue Dots.

I die-cut the flower center using the small round die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, then popped up the die-cut with a Dimensional.

Two Cool—The second card uses the same basic elements in a different orientation, with a few other small changes.

I cut my Delightful Daisy DSP into different sizes to create a more off-set background.  The strips are 1-1/4" x 5" and 3/4" x 5".  I used a different pattern of paper, too!  It's layered onto a Wisteria Wonder mat and mounted on a Night of Navy card base this time.

Instead of the larger, bold sentiment, I used the smaller phrase, inked in Night of Navy, along with some small flowers stamped in Peekaboo Peach.  Loveliness!
