Hi Stamping Friends!

I hope you're having a fabulous Labor Day weekend!  Can you believe it's September?!  Wow!

I guess today's Fall Fest class project isn't feeling so out of place now that it's the unofficial end of summer.  It won't be long before the leaves start falling…and you'll be wanting to send cards like the ones I'm featuring today!

September Stamp-of-The-Month Class Kit—Fall Fest Project

Leaves - two cool

CASEd from Cindy Hall at Pretty Impact.

The versatility of the Fall Fest photopolymer stamp set is so fantastic!   From fun Jack-o-Lantern faces and ghosts for Halloween, to pumpkins and leaves for autumn, these whimsical images cover all of your Fall festive occasions!

These cards are the final projects from my Fall Fest Stamp-of-the-Month Class. You can see the other projects on previous posts: Jack-o-Lantern Cards and Fall Fest Tag A Bag Goodie Bags

Leaves - honey h

Background Basics—This card begins with the warm, rich In Color Hello Honey card base, layered with another 5-1/2" x 2" piece of Hello Honey card stock that's texture embossed with the Modern Mosaic Folder.

Leaves - honey h3

Sentiment First—I started with a 4-1/4" x 2-7/8" piece of Whisper White and stamped a Something To Say sentiment in Early Espresso ink.  TIPS: Stamping the words first ensures that I have them in the position I want before I run out of room when I inevitably get too enthusiastic adding the leaves.  I also make sure that the image is straight right away, rather than adding a crooked phrase last and ruining all my effort.

Layered Leaves—First, I stamped the branch of leaves several times around the edge in Hello Honey.  Next, I added the Tangelo Twist oak leaves.  And, finally, I filled in the spaces with the small maple leaf, inked in Hello Honey and stamped off once each time for a lighter color.

Once the leaf border was done, I adhered the piece to a piece of 4-1/4" x 3" Tangelo Twist card stock.

Popped Up Leaves—I stamped one of each of the leaves in the same colors onto scrap Whisper White card stock, and die-cut them with the Fun Fall Framelits.  These framelits are a must-have to save you from frustrating fussy-cutting!

I wrapped Gold Baker's Twine around the focal point layer and tied it into a double-knot.  Then, I popped up the leaves with Dimensionals, with the stems under the twine.

The stamped layer is also attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

Leaves - mossy v

For my second version, I added the branch of leaves in Mossy Meadow for another pop of color and I used the Arrows Texture Impressions Folder for the background.

In case you missed my Photopolmer tips on a previous post…

Photopolymer TIP #1:  Before stamping with your new photopolymer stamps, ink them first with VersaMark ink to condition them, then stamp off and ink them with Classic Ink.  You'll get better ink coverage on the stamp and a cleaner stamped image on the paper.

Photopolymer TIP #2: There is no foam cushion on photopolymer stamps, so you will get a better stamped image when you stamp with a firm, yet slightly cushy base.  I use the Piercing Mat as my stamping surface and it works great!

Leaves - mossy v2

I tied the Gold Baker's Twine into a bow for this one—so cute!

Leaves - mossy v3

Did you notice the third popped up maple leaf up near the sentiment.  I like to keep elements in "threes," laid out in an imaginary "triangle" shape so that it's pleasing to the eye.
