Floral Delight Blocked Background Cards
This beautiful background technique is just one way to spotlight the beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper and create a lovely color palette for your cards!
Background Basics
I started by cutting two sizes of two different patterns of Floral Delight Paper: 2″ x 3-1/4″ and 1-5/8″ x 3-1/4″ for one; 2″ x 1-5/8″ and 1-5/8″ x 1-5/8″ for the other. I adhered them to a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock then mount the background onto an Old Olive card base.
Sweet Sentiment
I stamped a Delightful Wishes big “wishing” word in Old Olive ink onto Basic White cardstock, then die-cut it with the Delightful Wishes coordinating die. I adhered it to the upper portion of a Daffodil Delight Spotlight on Nature circle die-cut with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The circle is popped up with Dimensionals onto the card front.
I stamped the second part of the sentiment in Pecan Pie onto a 3/8″ wide strip of Lemon Lolly cardstock and trimmed the ends. Your class kit will have a strip long enough to fit any of the sentiments; just trim to size. I adhered with more Liquid Glue.
Focal Point
I stamped the Delightful Wishes detailed flower images in Crushed Curry ink onto Basic White cardstock and added a solid, two-step flower in Daffodil Delight ink over the top. I also stamped an Old Olive leaf. The blooms and leaves are die-cut with the Delightful Wishes Dies and added with a combination of SEAL Adhesive and Mini Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches
I added a few of the super-shiny Antique Pearls around the focal point for a sweet finish!
Two Cool – The Card I CASEd
I received this beautiful swap card from Sarah Simons and used many of her elements on my class card.
Background Basics
Sarah’s card has DSP in some different measurements: the first pattern blocks are 2-1/8″ x 3-3/8″ and 1-5/8″ x 3-3/8″; the second pattern blocks are 2-1/8″ x 1-5/8″ and 1-5/8″ x 1-5/8″. They are adhered to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White and mounted onto a Lemon Lolly card base.
Focal Point
Sarah created a beautiful blooming branch for her focal point using the Delightful Wishes set for the stamped layers. The branch is in Pecan Pie, the flowers in Lemon Lolly with Daffodil Delight details and the leaves are in Old Olive. She added some Pool Party tiny flower clusters and punched the image with the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch. The circle is layered onto a Daffodil Delight Spotlight on Nature die-cut and popped up.
Finishing Touches
She added a Delightful Wishes sentiment stamped in Pecan Pie ink onto a Lemon Lolly 3/8″ strip and trimmed on the diagonal. She finished with a tiny 1/8″ Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon bow and a Tiny Bee Trinket, both attached with Glue Dots. So delightful!
