Hug in a mug - two cool
Hug In A Mug Warm Wishes Cards

Whether it's coffee, tea or hot chocolate, you'll be able to create all your favorite hot drinks with this sweet stamp set!

Hug in a mug 144933GCreate Your Favorite Drink—The three styles of cups have coordinating solid images to add color to them easily.  You can decorate the outside of the mugs with stripes, dots, stars, Christmas trees, hearts or snowflakes.  Then, fill the mugs with drink details like marshmallows, foam, candy cane, stirring stick, steam, spoon, or a tea bag!  So many options!

Hug in a mug - emeraldCASEd from the Stampin' Up! 2017 Holiday Catalog.

Background Basics—I stamped a background to this Emerald Envy card base with Emerald Envy ink.  I used the large marshmallow, chocolate chips and tiny dots images, and to make it faster, I assembled them all on one block to stamp them all at once.  Then, I layered a 5-1/2" x 1" strip of Real Red card stock across the middle.  To add some sparkle, I also adhered a 5" x 1/2" strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper that was fishtail cut on the ends.

Focal Point—I stamped the Hug In A Mug sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink at the bottom of a 3-3/4" x 3-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the tray image above the words and colored it in with a Crumb Cake marker (a Stampin' Blends marker would work great here for less stroke lines).  I added a couple of Rhinestone Jewels at the banner ends, too.

Hug in a mug - emerald 3

Sweet Mugs—I stamped the center tall mug outline first to help with positioning, inked with Memento Black.  Then, I stamped the other two outline mugs.  I decorated each mug with different images using Memento Black unless specified:

  • First Mug—Stamped with solid Real Red cup image then snowflake in Memento Black.  It's filled with steam and a striped stirring stick, colored with a Pool Party marker.
  • Second Mug—The outside is stamped with a Pool Party solid stamp, then decorated with chevron stripes.  It's topped with foam and has a spoon that's colored with a Smoky Slate marker.
  • Third Mug—I added a Christmas tree on the outside, colored with an Emerald Envy marker.  This cup is filled with mini marshmallows and a candy cane, colored with a Real Red marker.

Finishing Touches—I brushed on some Wink of Stella shimmer on the foam, stirring stick and candy cane.  The White Baker's Twine bow is attached with a Glue Dot.  I finished with a Rhinestone Jewel on the snowflake.  The whole focal point is popped up with Dimensionals.

Hug in a mug multi step stamping tip

Multi-Step Stamping TIP—It can feel a little intimidating to have so many different stamps that create one complete image, but you can make it easier by doubling up images that go together.  For example, I like to use the marshmallows and candy cane together for hot chocolate, so I mounted one image on one side of an "A" block, and the coordinating image on the other side.  I offset the images just enough so that I could easily see to line up the stamp.  The foam and spoon go together, too!  I also paired up the snowflake and tree images for the outside of the cups.  When you pair up the images, it makes it easier to find and faster to stamp, especially when creating several cards at once.  It's actually a very fun card to mass-produce for holiday cards when you break down the steps this way!

Hug in a mug - pool

Two Cool—The second card begins with a Pool Party card base and image stamped in Pool Party ink.

I changed the sentiment on this version, but most everything else is the same.  I did swap out the Christmas tree for the heart image to coordinate with the sentiment.  It's colored with a Real Red marker.
