High Tide Just Breathe Masked Square Cards

I can't get enough of the relaxing feel of the High Tide set and when it's paired with elements from the versatile Colorful Seasons bundle it gets even better!  These cards make me go, "aahhhhhh" by just looking at them.  I can't think of a better "encouragement" style card that you could send to a friend.

Background Basics—I started this card by stamping the Colorful Seasons "Just Breathe" sentiment in Memento Black Ink onto a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White.  By stamping that first at the bottom, it helped me position the focal point a little better.  Once all of the stamping was done of the background layer, I adhered it to a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Bermuda Bay card stock, then mounted it to a Soft Suede card base.

Masked Square—To create the mask, I die-cut the same size Whisper White piece as my background, 3-3/4" x 5", using the largest square from the Layering Squares Framelits.  Then, I placed the die-cut window over the background layer.  Holding it securely in place, I sponged on some Pool Party ink, using a small circular motion and always starting off the square and working toward the center.  If you start your inked sponge off the square first, you'll avoid having ink blobs that sometime occur when the sponge first hits the paper.

Beach Scene Details—From there, it was just a matter of adding a few more stamped elements using images from the High Tide stamp set:

  • I stamped the waves image in Bermuda Bay at the bottom of the square.
  • I stamped the two reeds images in Crumb cake ink randomly underneath the square.
  • I stamped the seagulls in Memento Black near the top of the square.

To finish up, I die-cut a Seasonal Layers Thinlits Adirondack chair from Crumb Cake. To adhere it, I lightly sponged on some Multipurpose Glue.

Two Cool—I changed up the color combination on my second card, this time layering Pacific Point onto Sahara Sand for the background.

I thought the Soft Sky ink matched a little better with the Pacific Point waves and the reeds are in Sahara Sand.  The chair is still the same Crumb Cake color, even though it looks lighter than the other card.
