Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm slowly catching the My Digital Studio bug!  I've recently upgraded to the new MDS2+ digital designing software and I've been very impressed with all of the new features—75 of them!  I've barely touched the surface of all that can be done in this awesome program, and I can already tell that it's easier to use and has a lot more flexibility than the original program!  I'm really getting excited about exploring my digital papercrafting creativity!

I don't do a whole lot of scrapbooking, but I'm still discovering lots of fun ways to utilize the MDS2+ program for card designing, calendars, blog graphics and more!  I think I'm gonna love creating class flyers, signs, labels, and other marketing resources that coordinate with my "real" stamping projects!

Today I'm showing the first two cool projects I've created with my new MDS2+ Software!  Woohoo!

Pretty Seasonal Gift Certificates

Over the weekend, I created some custom $10 gift certificates.

Gift certificate 2012 - holiday sample-001

I whipped this up in about 30 minutes!  It's not too exciting, but it's SO much prettier than anything that I could have created in a simple Word program!  And, it's easier and less expensive than more sophisticated graphic design programs!  It's perfect for what I need!  Plus, it perfectly matches Stampin' Up! colors and graphics—Too Cool!

Helpful Details:

  • I started with a custom page size of 3-3/8" x 2-1/8", so I could easily save it as a placeable JPEG graphic later on.  I placed 8-up them in a Word file to print them out on Whisper White card stock.
  • The background is Baja Breeze. The text is in Concord Crush, Pacific Point and black.
  • The snowflakes are from Winter Post colored in Concord Crush, Pacific Point and Wisteria Wonder.

I love that I can use retired colors, like Concord Crush, and retired stamp set images, like the ones from Winter Post, on my digital designs!  They are available forever in digital form!

Creative Elements Journal

Next, I wanted to try something that was a little bigger, but still easy and fast.  So, I decided to try a journal using one of the designer templates, Creative Elements Journal, which comes with the MDS2+ content-loaded option.  It's starts off looking like this:

Delete-002

And, I turned it into this (click to enlarge):

Journal - Angie-2 mini

I changed the background paper to Baja Breeze Villa, changed the flourish designs and "create" graphic to Midnight Muse, rearranged some of the transparent white stripes, and added a title in Midnight Muse.  It was fast, fun and easy to do!

TIP: For custom titles and journaling, MDS2 uses fonts that you already have installed on your computer!

Journal - Angie-1 mini

I changed the back in the same way, adding a Thoreau quote and some extra butterflies.

What is an MDS Journal?  It's a 6-1/4" x 8-1/4" journal that has 80 double-sided lined journal pages, customizable spine, and front and back covers in a matte finish.  It's professionally printed with your custom MDS2 design for $19.95 (US) or $24.95 (CAN).

I'll let you see the finished journal once it arrives!  Can't wait!
