Right before I went to Leadership, I saw an awesome Windowpane project created by Patty Bennett—a Monogram Windowpane Necklace! I knew I would have to create one when I got back! And, it turned out SO darling!
Don't you love it!? Can't you see your monogram necklace looking just as cool?!
I used the largest Windowpane, which is 1-1/2 x 2", and created a necklace that was very similar to Patty's Beveled Windowpane Necklace. You can see a thumbnail of her necklace to the right. I loved how she used the Key and Rosette for lots of pizzazz! Here are the instructions, paraphrased from Patty, below…
Windowpane Necklace How-Tos
- Decorate a 1-1/2 x 2" piece of cardstock or Designer Series Paper.
- Add a small amount of SNAIL at the very top and bottom of the paper to tack it in place on the back of the Windowpane while you attach the ribbon.
- Place the Windowpane paper-side down on a Cutting Mat, place a Craft Knife through the ribbon slots and cut slits into the paper.
- Thread your ribbon through the slots and wrap it around to the back, securing with SNAIL.
- Add a loop of ribbon to the top, securing the ends to the back with SNAIL.
- Cut another piece of DSP or cardstock and adhere it to the back with SNAIL to cover up the ribbon.
- Add more ribbon through the loop for your necklace.
- Embellish your Windowpane with Antique Brads, Basic Rhinestones, Basic Pearls, Trinket Keys or Trinket Crowns, Rosettes, and more!
My Project Details: I used First Edition Designer Series Paper for my base, sponged in River Rock and stamped in Basic Black with images from the Clearly For You stamp set. I used a Very Vanilla Decorative Label Punch, stamped with the pattern from Clearly For You in River Rock, the crane from the same set in Basic Black, and the letter "A" from the Lovely Letters Alphabet in Cherry Cobbler. Edges were sponged in Basic Black.
I kept my embellishments simple: a Basic Grey 3/8" Taffeta (retired) knot, Basic Rhinestones, and an Antique Brad. I cut the shanks of the brad off with Craft & Rubber Scissors (these worked great!), then attached with Glue Dots.
The back was covered with paper from the Love Letters DSP pack—very simple.
This is a wonderful gift idea, but you could forgo the ribbon necklace and use it as a beautiful collage embellishment on any stamped project just as easily! So cool!
Keep Stampin' it Up!

This is probably my most favorite of all the beveled windowpane techniques! I love the mini-collage!
In addition to a cute necklace, I think this monogram collage would be a cute charm attached to a card or scrapbook layout. Love this and love the DSP paper you used.
Love it!! My next one will have a sepia or black and white photo in it… either of our son or maybe of my mom & dad.. I think it would look so cool! GREAT job!
