Woohoo! I tried another sketch! These things may become addictive! In my post from Friday, I talked about trying out a card sketch challenge to get my inspiration going, so I did. It was my first time using a sketch and it was so much fun that I tried the Pals Paper Arts Sketch for this week, too!
Pals Paper Arts Sketch 208 – Wednesday, June 25
For this sketch, I wanted to try out my new Bloom For You single wood mount stamp. It was a little bigger than the circle on the sketch, but I still thought I could make it work if I moved the element over a little bit.
I love how these two cool sketch cards came out! The Pals Paper Arts sketch is a clean and simple design that is delightful in either direction.
Background Basics—I started with a pretty chevron pattern from the new Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper cut to 3-3/4" x 5" and mounted on a 3-7/8" x 4-7/8" Whisper White layer.
A 3-3/4" x 1-1/4" piece of Blackberry Bliss was embossed with the new Zig Zag texture folder, which picked up the chevron pattern beautifully.
Ribbon Wrap—Before mounting it to the Rich Razzleberry card stock, I wrapped the layers with the new 1/4" Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon. You've got to try this awesome ribbon! It's soft like your favorite cotton T-shirt and super-easy to tie. Plus, it's versatile enough to dress it up or go casual. I think I'm gonna need one in every color!
Layered Blossom—The Bloom For You stamp is designed for easy layering with coordinating punches. I started by stamping the flower in Tangelo Twist and cutting it with the new Fun Flower Punch. I love that fun new flower shape!
I quick-cleaned the stamp with my handy Stampin' Scrub, then stamped again in Crushed Curry and cut that layer with my 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch. Finally, I stamped one more time with Rich Razzleberry and punched the flower center with my 1/2" Circle Punch. Pop up the layers with Dimensionals and you have a fun, retro flower!
TIP: Like the Flower Shop & Pansy Punch, you have to be mindful about how you position the Bloom For You image when you stamp because the petals on the Fun Flower punch are not symmetrical. Once you figure out which direction of stamp lines up perfectly with you punch, I recommend marking the "up" position on the wood block.
Bloomin' Banner—My banner is die-cut with the third smallest of the Banners Framelits. I tried out the bright and cheery sentiment from Ray of Sunshine, colored with Rich Razzleberry and Tangelo Twist markers on the stamp before stamping.
Colored Jewel Addiction—I needed a little colorful sparkle, so I used my Daffodil Delight Blendabilities Markers to alter the Rhinestone Jewels. I seriously cannot stop making coordinating rhinestones for Every. Single. Card. right now! I've used my markers for jewels WAY more than I've even used them for coloring so far—haha!
For the horizontal version, I flipped the banner to the other side, so it could rest along the bottom of the card. I also switched my flower center colors and used the Chevrons Embossing Folder. Mixin' it up!
The sentiment on this version is from Blooming With Kindness. I colored these Rhinestones with the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities. Confession: You don't know how much I wanted to add jewels in all three colors…but I held myself back. #seriouscoloredjeweladdict
