Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm VERY excited about the upcoming Color Refresh that Stampin' Up! announced this week, are you?  I truly think the updates will invigorate and inspire a whole new level of creativity!  I can hardly wait to start mixing and matching new color combinations!

But, there will be plenty of time for that.

Right now, I want to take some time to feature the 10 colors that will be retiring.  So, for today's Sunday Showcase I'm going to dig into my project archives, reminisce, and feature some of my all-time favorite creations in these colors.

Click on the link to see complete details on each project. You'll see lots of retired products, but the ideas are still duplicatible and Too Cool!

100 pink - birthday small blooms  Retired regal rose I105130S

Regal RoseReason To Smile In Regal Rose Resist

I'm gonna miss this medium shade of pink that has been a stand-by for coloring flowers. Primrose Petals is a decent substitute, at least until it's retired in 2014.

Pretty in pink card

Pretty In PinkSweet Valentine Masked Heart Card

There's something so sweet and feminine about Pretty In Pink, and I think it will be difficult for many to let go of it.  Thankfully, Blushing Bride will be a nice replacement, and will be also work nicely for light skin-tone projects, like Santa Claus.

Bashful blue card

Bashful BlueSeason of Joy Circle Scallop Scene

If you needed to make a sky, Bashful Blue has been the best choice for years.  I especially love it's crisp, icy look for wintery scenes like this one.  I think Soft Sky, which is lighter with a hint of green, will be the new go-to.

Certainly celery project
Retired certainly celery I105125S

Certainly CeleryBird Brag Book

Certainly Celery has always been a very Spring-like color for me, and not very easy to use with other colors outside of that season or even outside the Subtles Collection. Honestly, I'm ecstatic that we will have Pear Pizzazz instead.  It's a little warmer, so it coordinates better with colors from the other Collections, and I'll be more likely to use it throughout the year.

Baja breeze project

Baja BreezeBaja Breeze Nugget Box & Card

OK, this one breaks my heart the most.  I use Baja Breeze all the time and I'm a bit choked up that it's being taken away.  *takes a moment*  But, I know that there are some awesome alternatives like Pool Party and Soft Sky that should soften the blow.  I'm not sure either one looks as good with Soft Suede, but I'll survive. I never could tell my Baja Breeze and Pool Party Seam Binding apart anyway.

Riding hood red project

Riding Hood RedBuild A Cupcake Purses

Ever since the previous Color Renovation, I've felt like there was an over-abundance of reds and that Riding Hood Red simply wasn't necessary.  I think Real Red and Cherry Cobbler (which is the most popular color) covers all the basic reds we need.  I'm OK with this one.

Bravo burgundy project
Retired bravo burgundy I105123S

Bravo BurgundyMother of Pearl Shimmer Resist

I hate to lose this pretty maroon color, because there's nothing like it that even comes close.  But, as much as I've enjoyed it in the past alongside Always Artichoke for Christmas, I can honestly say that I simply don't use it very often.

I love it on this blast from the past card—one of my Top 10 favorite cards EVER!  Do you recognize that butterfly?  It's one of the images in the Best of Butterflies set released this month!

Not quite navy project
Retired not quite navy I101722S

Not Quite NavyOpen Sea With Nautical Expedition

I'm also very sad to see Not Quite Navy go.  I truly enjoyed pairing it with Baja Breeze, as well as other deep, rich, jewel-tones like Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry.  Fortunately, with the addition of Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay, and even the Midnight Muse In Color, I'll should be able to adapt.  *sniff*

More mustard project
Retired more mustard I100946S

More MustardWonderfall & Autumn Accents Dies

More Mustard has never been a very popular main color, but it sure is great as an accent color, especially for Fall.  Nearly every project I've done with autumn leaves has some of this warm color highlighted.  Not sure what I'll use as a replacement.  Maybe Stampin' Up! will finally succeed in getting me to love Crushed Curry as much as I'm adoring Summer Starfruit.  We'll see.

River rock project
Retired river rock 108640S

River RockGently Falling Watercolor Spritz

River Rock is a nice neutral that I've often used as a foundation to highlight other colors, like on this Gently Falling card.  Ironically, 5 out of the 7 colors on this card (Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock) are retiring with this Color Refresh.

Guess that's the perfect way to wrap up this Sunday Showcase of retiring colors!
