Trusty Tools Most Awesome Z-Fold Card
This is, hands down, my favorite card from my Trusty Tools Mini Class! I love the colors and the fun fold style! I created this for a Father’s Day card, but you could leave out the sentiment and it because a great masculine card for birthdays, thank yous and more!

Background Basics
For this Z-Fold layout, I began with a traditional 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and scored it at the 4-1/4″. I flipped the piece over, then scored again at the 2-1/8″ mark. Scoring in two different sides makes it easier to fold at the crease. Remember, fold toward the “mountain” or bump side of the score, not the “valley” or depressed side for best crease.
I adhered a 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Trusty Toolbox Designer Series Paper on the front flap of the card. I also adhered a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Real Red cardstock on the inside of the card.
Pegboard Background
I embossed a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock with the cool pegboard die from the Trusty Tools Dies. I layered it onto a 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece of Basic Black, then again on a 3″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I adhered the background to the card front panel with SEAL Adhesive.
Trusty Tools
I created the tools with some simple stamping and coloring. I stamped all three Trusty Tools outlines in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White to start. Then I stamped the fill-in color for the handles: Lost Lagoon for the paint brush, Pecan Pie for the hammer and Real Red for the wrench. I also stamped a little paint onto the bottom of the paint brush in Pecan Pie color. Finally, I used my light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the hammer head and wrench.
All three were die-cut with the Trusty Tools Dies and popped up onto the pegboard with Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals. Don’t have Mini Dimensionals? You can use the outer edge of the Dimensionals sheet or simply cut a Dimensional down to the size you need.
Sentiment & Finishing Touches
I stamped the Trusty Tools sentiment in Memento Black ink onto a 2″ x 7/8″ piece of Gray Granite cardstock. It’s adhered across the tools with a little SEAL and one Dimensional for stabilization.
I finished by adding a few gray Classic Matte Dots on the pegboard. I love that it looks like pegs might be hung there. Perfect!
Inside The Card
I finished by stamping a 2-3/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White with an inside Trusty Tools greeting in Memento Black. I had already created an extra tape measure that I didn’t use on another project, so I added that at the bottom. It’s stamped in Memento Black, filled in with Lost Lagoon stamped image and colored with Gray Granite and Daffodil Delight Blends Markers. So cute!
