Dawn's Hey Birthday Chick Card
I received this sweet & simple Hey Birthday Chick swap card from Dawn Olchefske. I love how she left the background plain so that the focal point really pops! A cute card doesn't have to be complicated!
Background Basics—Dawn started with a 4-1/4" x 11" Thick Basic White card base, scored at the 5-1/2" mark. She banner cut the ends of 4" x 1" and 3-1/2" x 1/2" strips from the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper and adhered them to the card front. Next, she die-cut the fence from Cinnamon Cider cardstock using the Birthday Chick Dies.
Birthday Chick—Dawn stamped the Hey Birthday Chick image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Basic White, then colored it very simply with Stampin' Blends Markers. She used Poppy Parade for the balloon and comb, Mango Melody for the feet and Cinnamon Cider for the beak. It's die-cut with the coordinating Birthday Chick die and popped up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches—She stamped the Hey Birthday Chick greeting in Memento Black onto a 2" x 1/2" strip of So Saffron, fishtail cut the ends and adhered it to the bottom of the chick. I love that it looks like he's holding the sign! She finished by adding a couple of Playing With Patterns Enamel Dots. So cute!
Sandy's Hey Birthday Chick Card
Sandy Carlson created this adorable Hey Birthday Chick card for our swap. I love that she didn't color the chick or balloon at all and it looks amazing with this neutral color combo!
Background Basics—Sandy began her card by embossing a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Suede card stock with the Subtle Embossing Folder. She adhered a 3-3/4" x 2" piece of Fine Art Floral DSP to a 3-7/8" x 2-1/8" piece of Basic White and mounted it onto the bottom of the embossed layer. Then, she tied some White Crinkle Seam Binding around the layers before mounting it onto a Soft Suede card base.
Birthday Chick—Sandy stamped the Hey Birthday Chick image in Soft Suede onto a 2-1/8" x 2-1/4" piece of Basic White. It's layered onto a 2-1/4" x 2-3/8" piece of Soft Suede, then a 2-3/8" x 2-1/2" piece of Bumblebee, then a 2-1/2" x 2-5/8" piece of Basic White before mounting it onto the card front. She also stamped the balloon part of the larger Hey Birthday Chick image in Soft Suede onto Basic White, then die-cut that and adhered it above the chick.
Finishing Touches—Sandy used Adhesive Foam Sheets to pop up the Birthday Chick fence die-cut. She adhered the cardstock to a piece of Adhesive Foam Sheet first, then ran it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the die. It makes it so easy to pop up that way! She finished by die-cutting the Happy Birthday words and bow tie from Bumblebee cardstock using the Birthday Chick Dies. They are adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
BJ's Hey Birthday Chick Card
Here's another sweet and simple Hey Birthday Chick card, this time created by swapper BJ Peters. I'm loving her simple background that makes the image stand out!
Background Basics—BJ's card begins with a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. It's layered onto a 3-1/8" x 4-3/8" piece of Misty Moonlight and mounted onto a Terracotta Tile card base.
Birthday Chick—BJ stamped the Hey Birthday Chick image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Basic White cardstock and colored it in with Daffodil Delight, Misty Moonlight, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends Markers. It's die-cut with the Birthday Chick dies and popped up with Dimensionals. She also die-cut the birthday words in Misty Moonlight and adhered those with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Adorable!
