Adorable Owls Recessed Window Z-Fold - two cool

Adorable Owls Recessed Windows Z-Fold Cards

It's no secret that one of my favorite elements on a card is a cool recessed window! I thought this cute Adorable Owls image looked like he was peeking into a window, so I couldn't wait to try out my favorite technique! I combined it with a new, cool Z-Fold fun-fold that I saw, making it even more fun!

Background Basics—I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Thick Basic White cardstock, scored at the 1" and 5-1/2" marks and folded into a Z shape. It makes a tiny flap that I added more layers to for a full card front. I layered a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Pale Papaya cardstock onto a 3-7/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Sweet Sorbet cardstock. It's attached to that small flap with SEAL+ Adhesive, for a more secure hold.

Inside The Card—On the inside of the card, I adhered a 1-1/4" x 4-1/4" piece of Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper flush along the right edge. This strip will show when the card is closed.

Sweet Owl—I started by die-cutting a Stylish Shapes circle from the middle of a 3" x 3" piece of coordinating Dandy Designs DSP. Next, I stamped the Adorable Owls image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Basic White. I colored it with Stampin' Blends Markers: Soft Suede for the outer feathers, Dark Pale Papaya for the inner feathers, Light Calypso Coral for the beak and feet and Light Crumb Cake for the eyes. I finished the image with a little Wink of Stella shimmer on the inner feathers and eyes.

Next, I positioned the window piece over the owl and trimmed away any excess that might show once it's assembled. To assemble it, I added Dimensionals all around the back of the window, then carefully added it over the owl image. I added more SEAL Adhesive on the back of the layers, then mounted it onto the card front square. So cool!

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Adorable Owls sentiment in Memento Black ink onto a Basic White Stylish Shapes banner die-cut. It's popped up, too!

Finishing Touches—I finished by adding a few Champagne Rhinestones; one by the owl and two next to the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Two Cool—My second card has square layers in Bermuda Bay and Balmy Blue making up the card front. The inside Dandy Designs pattern is in Coastal Cabana.

Sweet Owl—I selected the plaid Dandy Designs DSP to dictate my color combo, and I love it! This owl is colored with Soft Suede on the outer feathers, Light Crumb Cake on the inner feathers, Pool Party on the eyes and Pale Papaya for the beak and feet.

Finishing Touches—I love the Iridescent Rhinestones with the Dandy Designs DSP…they match EVERY color in the pack and look absolutely amazing!
