Swirly Bird Swirly Sailboat Cards

My final Swirly Bird class card features the stylish sailboat floating on the swirly waves die-cuts. It’s peaceful & calming…with a little bit of whimsy! Let’s take a closer look…

Background Basics—This card begins with a Tip Top Taupe card base. The scene foundation is a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock. I die-cut the Soft Sky waves with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, then adhered them onto the background with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and trimmed off the excess so it was flush on the edges. It’s matted onto a 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ piece of Dapper Denim.

Swirly Sailboat—The colorful sailboat is created with four separate images, but they are easy to line up with the see-thru photopolymer stamps. The boat is inked in Tip Top Taupe, the small sail in Peekaboo Peach, the striped sail in Flirty Flamingo and the flag in Dapper Denim. Bright & cheerful! I hand-cut the image with my super-sharp Paper Snips, then popped it up on the waves with Dimensionals.

Sweet Sentiment—The greeting is from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit, stamped in Dapper Denim ink. I stamped a Swirly Bird swirl in the sky to represent the moon, but it ended up just looking like a Soft Sky colored sun…which was weird. I added a White Perfect Accent to it to help it look more like a moon. Not sure I succeeded in the translation! Maybe just make it a sun instead…LOL!

Finishing Touches—Finally, I tied Thick White Baker’s Twine around the layer for a nautical feel, then popped the whole thing up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—I designed the second card to be horizontal. The waves die-cut is still long enough that it needs to be trimmed on each side.

This sailboat is stamped in Mint Macaron for the small sail, Dapper Denim for the striped sail and Soft Sky for the flag, on top of a Tip Top Taupe boat.
