Hi Stamping Friends!

I've been having fun playing with some of the new exclusive host stamps sets from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.  The sweet images from the Background Bits set are reminding me of some of the old vintage stamp sets from many years ago.

Today's Background Bits card design was one that we created as a make & take project at my July Stamp & Share team event.

Background Bits Charming Flowers Card

The Background Bits host set has several quaint images that are very unique, yet layer together beautifully!  These accents will also coordinate well with many other current stamp sets, so it's a great overall addition to your stamp collection!

Background Basics—I started by stamping the bold, decorative border in Old Olive ink along the left side of a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock. That layer is mounted on a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" layer of Flirty Flamingo card stock.

Sweet Sentiment—Before adhering to the Berry Burst card base, I stamped a Background Bits phrase in Berry Burst ink and added some ribbon.  Sshhh!  I cheated on that bow.  I tied the Flirty Flamingo twine around the two layers with a knot in the back.  The, I tied a separate mini bow and attached it over the twine with a "pinched" Glue Dot.

By "pinched", I mean that I put the bow on top of a Glue Dot that was still on the roll, then as I removed the bow I pinched the Glue Dot to make it skinnier behind the center of the bow.  Less sticky showing!

Charming Flowers—The pretty little flowers image was colored with markers directly onto the rubber.  I used the Old Olive marker for the stems, and the Flirty Flamingo and Berry Burst markers for the blooms.  After the color is applied, I huffed on the stamp, then stamped it onto a large circle die-cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Sweet Script—The lovely script really gives the element a vintage, distressed feel.  I inked the image in Sahara Sand and stamped directly over the flowers in full strength ink.  I stamped over them three times, each time a little off-set for some variation.  The circle is popped up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—My second card simply uses a different color combination.  This time, the mat layer, sentiment and Baker's Twine are all in Dapper Denim.  The card base is Soft Suede.

The border and flower stems are still in Old Olive, but the flowers are colored with Dapper Denim.
