Beautiful Blizzard Embossed Snowflakes Cards
Swap card created by Sharon McNeely.
Embossed Background Basics—This card begins with a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White that's been embossed by the Blizzard Thinlits die using the Embossing Plates. Use the flimsy blue mat and hard impressions pad as part of your Big Shot sandwich to create this beautiful die texture! I've listed the order and plates needed for the sandwich below and you can watch the Stampin' Up! Embossing Plates video to see it in action!
Sandwich Ingredients (from bottom to top):
- Big Shot Platform Plate
- Standard Cutting Pad
- Blizzard Thinlits Die with die-side up
- Cardstock
- Flimsy Blue Mat
- Hard White Impressions Pad
When you run this sandwich through the Big Shot, it will go through super-smoothly, and you might even think that nothing is happening. It doesn't take much pressure to create the impression. TIP: Since you are positioning the cardstock over the die, I recommend using a Post-It or washi tape to hold the die in place on the cardstock.
Isn't that texture beautiful? Wow! I can't wait to try out my other Thinlits dies with the Embossing Plate, too! Love it!
Background Layers—The embossed layer is matted onto a 4" x 5-1/4" layer of Balmy Blue cardstock. Sharon wrapped some Whisper White/Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon around the layers, securing the ends on the back. It's all mounted onto a Whisper White Thick cardstock card base.
Snowflakes Accents—The Balmy Blue snowflakes were die-cut using the Blizzard Thinlits dies, the same die that was used for the embossing! They are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and topped with Rhinestone Jewels.
Sweet Sentiment—The Beautiful Blizzard sentiment and curly accent was stamped in Balmy Blue ink onto Whisper White cardstock, then die-cut with the 2-3/4" long oval die from Layering Ovals Framelits. It's mounted onto a Silver Foil scallop oval from the same Framelits and popped up with Dimensionals over the ribbon. So quick, so cute! We'll be creating this version at "Last Thursdays" card class!
Two Cool—I created a second horizontal version with a different accent color. The background mat is in Highland Heather and I tied the ribbon around the layers this time.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the sentiment in Highland Heather and added three snowflakes in the same color and swapped out the Rhinestones for Pearls.
