One of the most popular items in the current Mini Catalog is the new Beautiful Wings Embosslit. It was in such high demand that it's been on backorder for several weeks, but it's shipping again (and I have your backorders)!
This thin little folder die cuts cute little butterflies that each have their own embossed texture pattern. So much fun to add to projects! It really brings them to life!
For the project above, one of my March workshop cards, I used the large flourish from one of my all-time favorite sets, Baroque Motifs, to create a vine for my butterflies to alight upon. To bring out the texture of each butterfly, I lightly sponged on ink in the same color as the card stock. (Click on the image to see them up close!) I folded the butterflies in half before I adhered them with a Glue Dot, making them appear to flutter on the card. The words are from the Well Scripted set in the Mini Catalog. I inadvertently used the wide oval punch with my sentiment, then realized later that it looks like an Easter egg. Bonus!
Here is what the Embosslit looks like, and you can click on the image for a close up to really see the texture. You might have missed this item in the Mini, since it's hidden in a little box at the bottom of p24 without a sample picture. The largest butterfly is 1-7/8" wide and the tiniest one is 3/8" wide. So cute!
How To Use Embosslits
Embosslits are used with the Big Shot Die Cut System. Just place your card stock inside the die folder, then sandwich it between two cutting pads, place on the Multipurpose Platform with one tab open and run it through the Big Shot machine. Did you know The Cutting Pads and Multipurpose Platform come with the Big Shot? They do! And, did you know that you can use Embosslits with other die-cutting machines, like the Cuttlebug? You can!
I had to try out the butterflies on my Fancy Favor Basket project and I LOVE it! You can see how to create the original project here. On this version, I used the Tea Party Designer Series Paper, and combined the Filagree Designer Brads with the Rhinestone Brads for more pizzazz! The flower embellishments were made with the Blossom Party Die, which coordinates nicely with all of the floral images in the decorative paper.
Tomorrow, I'll show you another Beautiful Wings project using the Chalkboard technique. Plus, I'll provide some tips and resources for using the Scallop Trim Border and Corner punches together to make an all-around border.
Stamp with you soon! ~Angie
