Beautiful You Watercolor Dance Cards

The Beautiful You images were specifically designed to be colored with the new Watercolor Pencils and they are super-easy to use! You don't have to be an artist to achieve a lovely watercolor look! It's as simple as coloring, and since it's watercolor, you don't even have to color inside the lines!

Background Basics—This card begins by adhering a strip of Tasty Treats Washi Tape along the bottom of a Crumb Cake card base. I embossed a 1-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of Pacific Point card stock with the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder. I attached that textured layer with Tear & Tape Adhesive, because it's a little more secure. You could also use Fast Fuse.

Effortless Watercolor—I stamped the Beautiful You dancing lady in Archival Black Ink onto a 4" x 2-3/4" piece of Shimmery White card stock. To watercolor the girl, I simply colored the dress with a dry Bermuda Bay pencil, adding some thicker strokes of color at the dress lines for some depth. Then, I used an Aqua Painter to paint over the top of the pencil to dissolve the color and smooth out the stroke lines. I watercolored the hat the same way with the Pacific Point pencil.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Beautiful You sentiment in Archival Black as well. To add the wash of color, I lightly colored over the top of the words and used the Aqua Painter again to smooth out the color.

TIPS: If the color is too light, you can go back and add more layers of pencil and smooth out with the Aqua Painter. The Shimmery White card stock holds up a little better than regular Whisper White card stock, but not as good as Watercolor Paper, when you're adding multiple layers of color. I also like the subtle sparkle that you see throughout the Shimmery paper.

Finishing Touches—Once dry, I adhered the watercolor layer to a 4-1/8" x 2-7/8" piece of Bermuda Bay card stock, then added a little Delicate White Doily to the back of the layer before popping it up with Dimensionals. I cut the doily into thirds. I finished by adding three little Pearl Jewels along the Washi Tape. TIP: I found that the finish on the tape was so smooth that I had to "rough" it up a little with a Piercing Tool in order for the Pearls to stick.

Two Cool—The second class card in this design uses Calypso Coral and Melon Mambo colors.
