Bee Mine Gift Card Holder Pull Card
Wanting to dress up a gift card with a “wow” style card? This is it! I created a sweet Valentine’s Day card with a surprising gift card pop up! A “thank you” shout out to Sandy Carlson for sharing a swap card with this cool style of opening!
Cool Pull Gift Card
When you pull the strip of cardstock at the bottom of the card, the front focal point lifts and flips and reveals a popped up gift card! Talk about awesome!
Pull Card Base Basics
Don’t be intimidated by this card. If you follow the steps, it’s really very easy to assemble! Here are the basics steps for assembly, then look for my card’s details further down the post. Be sure to watch my Bee Mine LIVE Class Video to see the assembly in action (it’s the last card presented).
- Start with a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ card base. Decorate the background.
- Cut a 4-1/4″ x 3″ layer and die-cut a Stylish Shapes 2-3/4″ Banner shape from the center to make the slider hole.
- Add Dimensionals to the outer side edges only of that layer, then pop up onto the center of the card.
- Cut a 2″ x 6″ slider pull strip, scoring at the 3-1/2″ and 4″ marks. Fold in the same direction and burnish the score lines, then fold the piece flat at the 3-1/2″ mark.
- Slip the longer “tail” end of the folded piece through the hole and line the end of it up flush to the bottom center edge of the card base.
- Use Tear & Tape to secure the underside of the other end to the banner hole layer.
- Keeping the pull strip folded and flat, add Tear & Tape between the two scored lines.
- Add the top 4″ x 2-3/4″ “flip” layer centered over the “hole” layer.
- Pull the strip and test the mechanism. It should flip up like the photo above.
- Decorate the flip layer card front!
Background Basics
I decorated the background by adding 5-1/4″ x 1″ strips of Bee Mine Designer Series Paper to the top and bottom of the 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Petal Pink card base. I embossed a 5-1/2″ x 2″ layer of Sweet Sorbet cardstock with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder (earn the stamp & folder bundle with a $100 order during Sale-a-Bration).
Focal Point Foundation
After adding the 4-1/4″ x 3″ Petal Pink banner cut popped up layer and attaching the Petal Pink pull strip mechanism, I adhered a 4″ x 2-3/4″ Sweet Sorbet flip layer background.
I added a Sweet Sorbet small heart, punched with the Bee Builder Punch, to the bottom of the pull strip to indicate that it’s a pull tab.
Next, I stamped a Bee My Valentine sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink at the bottom right corner of a 3-7/8″ x 2-5/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. I also added “bee flight trails” images in Petal Pink ink and some hearts in Sweet Sorbet ink, strategically placed to eventually float around my two bee focal points.
Delightful Bees
I created two cute bees by stamping the stripes first in Memento Black ink and the bodies over the top in Daffodil Delight. I also used Memento Black to stamp antennae on Basic White and wing outlines on Petal Pink. Don’t forget to add a cute smiley face to the bees! All of the parts were punched out with the Bee Builder Punch, assembled and popped up with Dimensionals. I finished with a few Iridescent Rhinestones for some sparkle.
Inside The Card
I stamped the Bee My Valentine inside sentiment in Memento Black onto a 3-3/4″ x 2″ piece of Basic White. I finished with a bee trail in Petal Pink ink ending in a small Sweet Sorbet heart. Just darling!
Gift Card Options
The gift card just sits on the exposed Petal Pink strip. You can use a Glue Dot to secure it. TIP: For a more temporary hold, tap the Glue Dot on your clothes before you add to the card and before you attach the gift card. That will take just enough of the sticky off of it that it becomes a temporary hold.
You don’t need to use this as a gift card holder! It’s fun as a flip card even without the gift card!
