Bee Mine Mini Gift Bags

I created these adorable mini gift bags as a little treat bag gift for my Too Cool Team make & take kits last month. They would be equally perfect as little Valentine’s gifts for your child’s classmates, as well as for your own friends and family!

I love making gift bags from beautiful Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers! The cool part is that you can use the same basic instructions for ANY SIZE of gift bag! My mini size begins with two 4″ x 4″ pieces of Bee Mine DSP, which allows me to get four (and a half) gift bags from a 12″ x 12″ sheet of DSP.

I scored the first side, which will be the folded-down collar flap, at 1/2″ in from the edge. All of the other sides are scored at 3/4″ in from the edge.

I used a bone folder to crease all of the edges, folding the collar flap back to see the reverse side on the outside of the bag. I used my Paper Snips to cut the lower slits on each side to make the bottom tabs. I repeated this for both pieces, then used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the halves, nested together to make a full bag.

I stamped the Bee My Valentine sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Pool Party Stylish Shapes circle die-cut. It’s adhered to the bag front with SEAL Adhesive.

I stamped the stripes of the Bee My Valentine bee in Memento Black ink onto Basic White, then stamped the bee body in Daffodil Delight over the top. TIP: I’ve found that it was easier to line up these two-step images when I stamped the darker image first. I also stamped the face on the bee and some antennae in Memento Black. The wings were stamped in Petal Pink ink onto Petal Pink cardstock. Then, I punched out all of those shapes with the Bee Builder Punch and assembled them. The bee was popped up with Dimensionals onto the circle.

I finished by punching out a Sweet Sorbet small heart with the Bee Builder Punch and adhering it with Liquid Glue. Did you notice that the small heart is also the antennae punch? And the wings punch also makes a medium size heart? So versatile and clever! I topped the heart with an Iridescent Rhinestone for a little sparkle.

I punched holes in the sides of the bag with a retired 1/8″ Hole Punch. If you don’t have that, you could use the Take Your Pick Tool to poke a hole. I threaded some Black & White Gingham Ribbon through the holes and tied them into a knot to secure.

I filled my bag with a Ghirardelli Chocolate and some tissue paper to make it look like a “real” gift bag! So cute!

The bag is big enough to fit fun-size candy bars, small candy, hair accessories and cash. I could have fit 2-3 of those Ghirardelli chocolates inside. Remember, you can always make a bigger gift bag to fit whatever you want to give by simply starting with larger pieces of DSP and scoring at the width that you desire! It’s so much fun to make lots of sizes and decorate them! Try it!
