Hi Stamping Friends!

I was so excited to see the return of the old Happy Harmony flower trio image in the new Best of Sale-A-Bration collector set for the 25th Anniversary celebration of Stampin' Up!

Happy harmony original

It reminded me of this card that I created way back when we had colors like Barely Banana and More Mustard, and we didn't yet know about all of the super-cool things you could do with a Big Shot!  I loved this card and I still do! With the return this image, I thought it would be fun to recreate it with a little updated twist for my Best of Sale-A-Bration club kits!

Happy harmony reprise - two cool

I started by replacing the yellows with So Saffron and Crushed Curry, and I even brought back some of the old ribbon to match the Elegant Eggplant card base.

Basic Background—My first version features the saffon-on-saffron look.  Rather than using a background stamped pattern, I tried adding an "echo" of flowers on the 4" x 5-1/4" So Saffron background. I updated the 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" Crushed Curry layer by embossing it with the Stylish Stripes Texture Impressions Folder.

Background Flowers—The image was colored on the rubber with Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Gumball Green markers, stamped off once onto scrap paper, then stamped several times along the bottom edge.  I stamped a Best of Greetings sentiment over the top with Elegant Eggplant.

After the background layers were adhered to the card front with SNAIL, I wrapped the some retired Elegant Eggplant grosgrain ribbon around the front and tied it in a faux bow.

Deco Focal Point—It's funny that I rarely use a square-cut focal point on my cards these days.  Why would I when there are amazing shapes like this Deco Labels Framelit now available?

Like the background, I inked the rubber images with Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Gumball Green markers, then stamped twice without re-inking onto So Saffron card stock.  I found that it looked better to ink up again for the third stamping to fill the space with bolder flowers.

Once my stamped piece was die-cut, I added another Deco Labels Framelit shape in Rich Razzleberry, cut in half and re-positioned to peek out from under the edges.

Glitter It—I felt like it needed some sparkle (doesn't every card?), so I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the flowers with a 2-Way Glue Pen.

Happy harmony reprise - white

With the darker yellow colors, I felt like the monochromatic yellow was a little too yellow, so for the second version, I tried a Whisper White background.

The white really makes the gorgeous color combination pop—it spotlights it!  I wrapped the ribbon around the accent this time.  Look closely (or click to enlarge) and you can see that I added Dazzling Diamonds to this one, too!

The texture is from the Square Lattice Folder and the sentiment is from Best of Greetings.
