Blended Seasons Watercolor Wash Resist Cards
The Blended Seasons bundle is an excellent stamp set for all kinds of coloring techniques. The beautiful blossoms offer a lovely starting point for this watercolor wash resist technique and the results are stunning! It's surprisingly easy to create!
Background Basics—I started with an 11" x 4-1/4" vertically folded Lemon Lime Twist card base. I embossed the front of the card with the Subtle Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder. TIP: I scored the card at the 5-1/2" mark first, then used the score line to position the edge of the card front with the edge of the folder before rolling through the Big Shot.
Embossed Blooms—I inked up the Blended Seasons blossom image with VersaMark ink and stamped it onto a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Watercolor Paper. I sprinkled White Embossing Powder over the sticky, clear ink, tapped of the excess and heated it with the Heat Tool until glossy and smooth.
Watercolor Wash—Next, I added color over the embossing using Classic Ink Pads and an Aqua Painter. I squeezed the pads before opening to transfer some ink to the lid, creating a palette. Then, I picked up the ink with a wet Aqua Painter and painted the color over the image. I used Bermuda Bay ink for the flowers, starting in the center of the flowers and working the ink outward past the embossed outline. I colored the leaves with Lemon Lime Twist. Once the images were dry, I mounted it onto a 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock.
I wrapped some Whisper White Tulle Ribbon around the layers and popped it up onto the card base with Dimensionals.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Blended Seasons sentiment in VersaMark onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, then embossed it in white, as well. Next, I die-cut the top of the greeting with the largest square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. To create the smaller die-cut, I rolled the greeting through a second time, this time carefully lining up the bottom of the square die to match the sides. The finished, twice-cut square measures approximately 2-5/8" x 1". What a fun and clever use of this die! Too Cool!
Two Cool—My second version starts with a Mossy Meadow card base, also textured with the Subtles folder.
Watercolor Wash—I colored these flowers with Highland Heather and the leaves with Mossy Meadow.
Sentiment—I embossed the sentiment on a piece of Gorgeous Grape and made the die-cut shape a little bit larger this time.
