Anything Goes Open Stamp Night

Anything goes graphicJoin Me on Thursday, August 7th from 5:30 – 9:00 pm

You're invited to bring stamping projects and join me for an informal night of stamping at my studio!  Bring your own inks & consumables, and use my stamps & tools!  It's also a great makeup class night, in case you had to miss an event you were scheduled to attend.

Please note: Starting in September, I'll be cutting back on my Anything Goes Open Stamp Nights so I can make room for the Countdown To Christmas Class Series in my calendar.  I may try to add a night in sometime in the last quarter.

Hi Stamping Friends!

It's ALMOST like Christmas!  According to my UPS tracking, my Holiday Catalog pre-order got delivered to my hometown UPS location this morning at 7am, but I can't get to it because they are closed all weekend. Waaahhh!  I'm itching and twitching like a kid at 5am on Christmas morning, having to patiently wait until I can get my hands on my holiday goodies!  Monday, sure seems like forever, right now.  LOL!

Oh well, it's not like I don't have lots of other creative projects to keep me busy.  Like the ones I'm working on today…my new TC Stamper Sampler Class featuring Blendabilities scheduled for August 20!  I'm still putting together the projects and I hope to have those and the class details on Monday.  So you'll have to wait a little bit, too!  Teehee!

TIP: Buy Your Blendabilities Now—If you are planning on attending my Blendabilities class, you'll have less wait time if you purchase some of the Blendabilities Markers colors and bring them to class.  Any colors you choose to bring will be helpful to keep the class flowing more smoothly.  Class-To-Go Kits will not include markers, but I will post a list of recommended colors when I post class details.  Order Blendabilities For Class.

Want a little sneak peek at one of the class projects?  I knew you would!

Bloom with Blendas - two cool

One of the cards we'll be creating during my class will be using the Blendabilities on some of the smaller flowers from the Bloom With Hope stamp set.  This hostess set is not only one of the prettiest sets currently available, but it has fantastic line images that are perfect for coloring!

Bloom with Blendas - warm wishes

This is the card base that we'll be starting with at the class, and I think I may have to change the smaller flowers to Night of Navy, because I want to use the Coastal Cabana for another card, but this one will give you the gist!

Blended Blooms—I like the look of the colored blooms on the 5" x 3-3/4" Crumb Cake background for a more muted floral pattern.  I stamped the flower and leaves images in Memento Black Ink, then colored them in using the Rich Razzleberry, Coastal Cabana and Old Olive Blendabilities 3-packs of markers.

Coloring Tips—I've been experiementing with different ways to do the blending, and there really is no wrong way, only personal preference.  For this card, I started by adding very thin lines of the darkest shade with the fine nib, then blending in just a bit of medium shade with the fine nib, and finally blending over the entire flower with the lighter color in the brush tip. I added more highlights with the Color Lifter, too.

If you look closely, you'll notice that my color is a bit outside the lines.  Part of that is due to the Blendabilities bleeding a bit more on Crumb Cake card stock than it does on Whisper White or Very Vanilla, and part of it is simply that I didn't have my reading glasses on…LOL!

Finishing Touches—I stamped the Blooming With Kindness sentiment above the flowers in Memento Black Ink, then mounted the stamped layer on a 5-1/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Basic Black.  I wrapped those layers with 1/4" Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon, which I tied into a knot and trimmed.  Finally, I added some Rhinestone Jewels around the sentiment and adhered it to an Old Olive card base.

Since there was so much coloring on the first design, I thought I would try a simpler version for the second card, to give class attendees another quicker choice.

The flowers are once again from Bloom With Hope, and I added some Daffodil Delight in the flower centers.

The sentiment is also from Blooming With Kindness, and this time the card is tied with an Island Indigo Cotton Ribbon and mounted on a Rich Razzleberry card base.
