Blooms & Bliss Gold Foil Flower Cards
It's time to share the final project from my "Last Thursdays" monthly card class coming up this Thursday! This pair of cards features beautiful foil flowers from two awesome thinlits sets, as well as the fun new Labeler Alphabet stamp set that allows you to personalized your stamped projects! Let's take a closer look…
Background Basics—I started by texture embossing a 4" x 2-1/2" piece of Island Indigo card stock with the Seaside Embossing Folder. This fun pattern gives the feel of waves and water…so much fun! I adhered it with SNAIL to the Island Indigo card base.
Focal Point Layers—I created a foundation for the foil flower by adhering a 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" piece of Blooms & Bliss Designer Series paper to a mat of 3" x 4" Basic Black card stock. One of the patterns from the Pop of Pink Washi Tape has pretty gold foil confetti on it and I thought it would accent the gold flower perfectly! See…it's not just for PINK projects!
I wrapped the Mint Macaron 3/8" Sheer Linen Ribbon around the layer and tied it into a double-knot, then trimmed the ends. I popped up the entire layer with Dimensionals onto the card front.
Foil Flower—I die-cut the flower using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, along with the new Big Shot Platform & the Precision Base Plate to achieve the most accurate cuts. I added some glue with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to the back of the flower, tucked the stem under the ribbon (with no glue underneath it), and held it in place a few seconds until it was secure.
TIP: You'll definitely want to use the Big Shot Platform & Precision Base Plate for ANY thinlit with intricate cuts like this one. Using this combination of plates makes cutting the die-cuts quick & easy! It should take you only two passes through the Big Shot, instead of 3-5 passes or having to use card stock shims for extra pressure. The cuts are clean, so the paper comes out of the thinlit and the pieces pop out of the die-cut and die more easily! They truly make a difference!
Custom Greeting—The new Labeler Alphabet stamp set is designed to look like those tags you can create with a labeling gun. There are regular letters and reverse-out letters to resemble either white or black labeling tape. How fun! Best of all, there are duplicates of the most popular letters in the regular style, so that you can arrange whole words on your acrylic block to stamp all the letters at once! I stamped out my word using Black Ink on Whisper White card stock, then hand-cut the word and popped it up with Dimensionals.
TIP: For some reason, I was having a better time lining up the letters when I started with the last letter and spelled it backward to the left. Maybe this is because I'm right-handed. Or, maybe I'm imagining it?!
Two Cool—For my second version, I went with a Mint Macaron horizontal card base and embossed the background layer with the Petal Burst Texture Impressions Folder.
Gold Flower—This time, I die-cut the Gold Foil flower using the May Flowers Thinlits…so pretty!
Custom Greeting—I tried the regular Labeler Alphabet letters on this card for a short, simple phrase.
