Botanical Butterflies Sweet Cups

Hi Stamping Friends,

Have you seen the cute Sweet Cups in the Occasions Catalog?  They are easy to miss, but they are perfect for dressing up as a table favor for all kinds of special events!  I decorated a bunch of them for my Kickoff Party event last month and they were a big hit.  Today, I wanted to share some up-close photos of the spectacular Botanical Butterflies that were the shining stars of these projects!

FREE Botanical Butterflies DSP! The Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper has been one of the most popular Sale-a-Bration selections!  Remember, you can earn this DSP for FREE when you place a $50 order.  It's currently on backorder, but it will be available again on February 11, so no worries!  You can order it now and it will come as soon as it's available.

I shared how to decorate the Sweet Cups in my January 24th Too Cool Stamping Facebook LIVE. Watch the replay here (starts at the 25 minute mark):

Botanical Butterflies Sweet Cups
I had so much fun making these adorable cups! They are perfect for spring and my Kickoff Party participants loved them!  It's easy to decorate the cups, but you do have to sacrifice one cup out of the pack of 10 to make it happen.

Butterfly sweet cups - template 1

Creating The Cup Template—In order to create a decorative wrap around the Sweet Cups, you'll need to create a template.  I used my Paper Snips to cut down the side of a cup, then trim away the bottom of it.  You could also use a craft knife.  Next, I traced the cup onto a piece of the chipboard backing that comes with Designer Series Paper. I extended the ends of the template about 1/2" longer on each side, so that the ends would overlap when they wrap around the cup. Now you'll have a template you can use over and over!

Trace around the template onto your Designer Series Paper.  I would definitely test out your template on a scrap piece first to make sure it's the correct size, so you don't waste any of your good paper!  When you cut it out, I found that I didn't need to worry about cutting the bottom at all, because I just trimmed that piece once it was on the cup.

Adhering The DSP—I found that I only needed to add Tear & Tape to each end, not all the way down the length of the DSP. This will allow you to have lots of wiggle room, so you can line up the DSP perfectly.  I apply it by holding the middle of the DSP on the cup, then carefully wrapping each side around.

Watch the Facebook LIVE video to see exactly I did it!  I walk you through step-by-step!

Butterfly sweet cups - lid 12.5

I decorated some of my Sweet Cups with the tiny butterfly pattern of Botanical Butterflies DSP.

Decorating The Lid—I used the Layering Circles Framelits to die-cut a circle of Botanical Butterflies Lemon Lime Twist patterned paper and layered it onto a Lemon Lime Twist scallop circle.  It's adhered to the lid using Tear & Tape for a secure hold.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Incredible Like You sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink onto a 3" x 1" piece of Whisper White, trimming the end into a fishtail. I popped that up with Dimensionals onto the lid.

Beautiful Butterflies—That one pattern in the Botantical Butterflies DSP has gorgeous butterflies in all kinds of colors and shapes!  I used my Paper Snips to hand-trim those out and add them to the top of the lids with a couple of Glue Dots under the body.  I lifted the wings so that looked like they have alighted onto the cup!  Beautiful!  I punched the smaller butterflies out of another pattern of DSP using the Butterfly Duet Punch.  No stamping or coloring involved!  I finished by adding a gold Faceted Gem to the large butterfly.

Two Cool—Half of my cups were decorated with the wildflowers pattern of the Botanical Butterflies DSP, which is my favorite!

This set had Highland Heather DSP and cardstock circles on the lid and Granny Apple Green ink for the sentiment.

Dozens of Butterfly Varieties—I LOVE how many different butterflies are on this sheet!  Let's take a look a several (but not all!) of the varieties that adorned my cups!

Do you see what I mean about variety?!  Wow!  It's a whole kaleidoscope of butterflies!  Did you know that a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope?  How appropriate and Too Cool!
