A few weeks ago, I created a bridal shower gift for my cousin Scott's fiancé, Devin. I was really impressed by their unique, yet simple, wedding invitation and wanted to use it as inspiration to create some coordinating Thank You cards.
The invitation (pictured underneath my card above) was a postcard style with delicate flourishes in colors that reminded me of the 20s. You can see the coordinating registry card in the same style. (I can't wait to actually attend this unique outdoor wedding next weekend! I hear it's very casual—the groom is wearing flip flops!)
I tried to mimic the same style on my card with similar flourishes and Soft Suede, retiring Ruby Red, and retired Soft Sky colors. The background is stamped with the Medallion stamp inked with VersaMark. I used the retiring Bella's Border wheel in Soft Suede, along with the coming-back-soon Scallop Trim Border Punch for the border. Sentiment is from the retired Vintage Labels, punched with the Wide Oval. White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon accent.
I created a whole gift set of 20 thank you cards with matching envelopes wheeled with Bella's Border. I packaged them in sets of five in neat little clear boxes from ClearBags.com.
I also had a plain, kraft-colored gift bag that I decorated to match! The VersaMarked Medallion didn't show up on the bag, so I sponged some Ruby Red Stampin' Pastels on the image to make it show up.
Next, I needed a card for my gift, so I used the bridal shower invitation for additional inspiration.
As soon as I saw the flowers on her shower invite, I thought about the new Awash With Flowers set (available in the new catalog!). I used my original color palette, this time with a French Filigree background in VersaMark, and a strip of retiring Bride Designer Series Paper sponged with Baja Breeze. I colored the flower with markers, stamped on Whisper White, and cut out to layer on top.
Of course my favorite part of this gift was giving it!
I think Devin liked the gift! It's the look on her mom's face that keeps me stamping!
