Bright Wishes Watercolored Wishing Well

Hi Stamping Friends!

Ever since I was a child, I've found coloring to be so relaxing.  What about you?  Do you like to color?  If you do, then the new Bright Wishes stamp set is great choice for you from the upcoming catalog.  Today, I'm sharing a Bright Wishes card that we'll be making at my "Last Thursdays" class this week.  If you're in the Fort Wayne area, I hope you can join us!

Bright Wishes Watercolored Wishing Well Cards

Watercolor Pencils are a fun way to color this sweet image from the Bright Wishes stamp set.  It's so satisfying to bring the well and flowers to life!  Wouldn't this be a charming image for creating a whole gift set of cards to give to a friend?

Background Basics—I started by embossing a 4-1/4" x 1-1/2" strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock with the Petal Burst Texture Impressions Folder.  I adhered it emboss-side-down (my favorite way for this texture) onto a Pool Party card base.

Watercolor Wishing Well—I stamped the Bright Wishes image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a 3-3/8" x 4-1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock.  The Watercolor Pencils set has all of the essential colors needed for this image.  I colored the well stones and rocks in Smoky Slate with some darker areas shaded in Basic Black.  I colored the wood in Early Espresso and the shingles in Basic Black.  The leaves and grass are in Old Olive and the flowers are in Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Pumpkin Pie.

There is no need to color each area completely with the pencils. Simply lay down a few strokes of color where you want color.  You'll use the Blender Pen to smooth and fill in the color inside each area.  Remember to color the Blender Pen on some scrap paper between colors to make sure the ink runs clear.

Once I was done with the coloring, I layered the artwork onto a 3-1/2" x 4-5/8" piece of Smoky Slate card stock and mounted it with Dimensionals onto the card front.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the long Bright Wishes sentiment in Memento Black Ink onto a 4" x 1/2" strip of Whisper White, then trimmed the ends into fishtails with my super-sharp Paper Snips.  It's popped up with Dimensionals.  I added a Linen Thread bow to the top with a Glue Dot.

Two Cool—My second version has an Old Olive card base with a 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" embossed strip of Pool Party for the background.

I tried out some different Watercolor Pencil colors on the flowers…Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight.  I also used a different sentiment from the Bright Wishes set, this time die-cut with the Layering Ovals Framelits.  Oooh, I really like it that way!  I also tied the Linen Thread all the way around the layer.
