Butterfly Die Cut Notes

Butterfly Die Cut Notes (2)  Butterfly Die

Isn't this little notepad Too Cute?!  I made these for a butterfly swap with my downline and it was a big hit!  I am planning on displaying it on a bulletin board for quick tear-off notes. Or, wouldn't it look cute hanging off a purse or back pack?  Cute and functional—what is better than that?

How To Make It

The basic components are the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die (shown above), Designer Series Paper, thin chipboard like the backing in the Designer Series Paper package, copy paper, Crop-A-Dile, and a 1" book ring.  You can create notes out of many of the Bigz Dies, so I'm not going to give specific measurements.

  • Start by covering two pieces of the chipboard backing, cut to a size big enough to cover your die, with the decorative paper (I used Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper).  I covered both sides, so it's pretty on the inside, too.  For the best coverage, I recommend using spray adhesive, but it's pretty messy.  You could also use a thin layer of Tombow Multipurpose Glue.
  • Run both covers through the Big Shot with your die.
  • Cut your copy paper down to size, then run mini sacks of it through the Big Shot.  You can do several sheets at a time, I think I did about 20 sheets each run.  My final note pad had about 100 sheets.
  • Punch large holes in your notes with the Crop-A-Dile.  I broke my stack up into thirds in order to fit into the Crop-A-Dile.  You can use one of the hole-punched sheets of copy paper as a template for your other stacks to keep them all aligned neatly.
  • Add a book ring and tie some ribbon around it (I used 1/2" Polka Dot grosgrain in Rich Razzleberry)
  • Decorate your butterfly (I used an image from the Tiny Tags set in the Mini Catalog, punched out with a 1/2" Circle punch, layered on So Saffron punched with the Small Oval punch, and finished off with a Circle Fire Rhinestones brad.)

Now, I know your thinking, "How does she come up with these ideas?"  Well I don't!  I CASEd this idea from Claudia Perry who was making these as hostess gifts!  Here are a couple she made using the Nouveux Chic paper, complete with Lovely Letters monograms and a Mini Sharpie!
