Today, I'm sharing the 4th card from my "Last Thursdays" class happening tonight. These two cool cards feature images from the all-occasion, and soon-to-retire, Easy Events stamp set.
New To Stamping? I recommend this stamp set to anyone who is new to stamping and needs a versatile, beginner set that provides lots of bang for your buck. Simply add some card stock in your favorite colors and matching markers, and you've got all you need to make quick and cute cards!
I'm also using Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue for the last time. The gingham striped background is probably my favorite thing about this card.
Gingham Background: I inked up the Stripes Texture Impressions Folder with Bashful Blue Ink, placed a 3-3/4" square piece of Whisper White card stock inside, and ran it through the Big Shot. Then, I repeated the process turning the stripes the opposite way. The texture and colored stripes remind me of seersucker fabric.
TIP #1: Apply the ink with a soft rubber brayer, or simply slide the ink pad directly over the stripes on the folder to transfer the ink.
TIP #2: I used "no tabs" on my Multipurpose Platform for best results. The stripes are less likely to get flattened or creased with a little less pressure going through the Big Shot.
The Easy Events image was stamped in StazOn Black, so I could watercolor it with Blender Pens and Classic Inks: Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Calypso Coral.
Scallop Trim Corners: I used the soon-to-retire Scallop Trim Corner Punch to create some intricate corner details on this card. I simply punched each corner out of scrap Whisper White, trimmed off the edges and adhere to the back of the 2" square stamped piece. It was nearly impossible to punch all the corners on one square piece and have it line up perfectly, so each corner is punched and adhered seperately.
I layered the focal point with Dimensionals onto a 2-1/2" square piece of Certainly Celery.
Inspired by Dawn Olchefske at DO Stamping.
I adore the gingham print on this baby-themed card! So cute! You could do pink and blue stripes if you didn't know the gender!
At tonight's class, attendees will be able to select which Easy Events image they want for their card. I think the rubber duckie is my favorite!
I experimented with using both Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery for the checkered pattern. It would be fun to play with different color combinations.
I used the White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon to accent each card. Most wrap around the entire card, but this one wraps around the gingham element only.
