I just love the combination of Real Red with Pool Party and Coastal Cabana. As I was designing my Decorative Trees class cards, I thought it would be fun to make a whimsical candy cane patterned tree with a snowy backdrop. My absolute favorite card style is a recessed element, and this one looks so sweet!

I started by cutting the top of a 4-1/4″ x 2″ piece of Basic White cardstock to create a snowy hill. I embossed the hills with So Swirly to make it look like drifting snow. It’s adhered to the bottom of a Coastal Cabana card base with SEAL Adhesive.

I used the solid tree Decorative Trees die to cut a window in the center of a 3-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Pool Party cardstock. Then, I embossed it with the Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder. It is popped up onto a 3-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Shaded Spruce with lots of Dimensionals.

I also die-cut a solid tree shape from the peppermint striped pattern of the Take A Bow Designer Series Paper. I mounted this shape into the recessed window area with SEAL Adhesive. The layers are mounted onto the card front with more SEAL Adhesive.

I stamped a Decorative Trees sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink onto a 3″ x 3/8″ strip of Basic White. I banner cut the ends then attached each end to the embossed window background with SEAL.

I die-cut a Garden Green Festive Glimmer star with the Decorative Trees dies and attached it with a Glue Dot to the top of the tree. Then, I tied a bow into the Real Red & White Baker’s Twine and attached that with a pinched Glue Dot. I finished by adding 10 Rhinestone Jewels. So sparkly!
