Today's two cards have a simple layout with just a few layers and the colored flowers take the spotlight. I also experimented with some different colors of sunflowers…because they don't always have to be yellow!
Background Basics—I started by adhering a 1" x 5-1/2" strip of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper in a woodgrain pattern to an Early Espresso card base.
Sensational Sunflowers—I started by stamping the Celebrate Sunflowers sentiment in Gray Granite ink at the top right of a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Whisper White. That gave me lots of room to easily position the sunflowers. I stamped those large flowers in Early Espresso ink three times, then colored them with Stampin' Blends Markers. Like the other cards from my class, I colored the petals fully with Dark Daffodil Delight, then added shading with Dark Mango Melody. The center of the flowers are in Crumb Cake Dark. I mounted the layer onto a 3-5/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Gray Granite, tied some Braided Linen Trim around the layers and popped it up with Dimensionals.
Two Cool—After coloring these flowers in non-traditional sunflower colors, I thought they kind of looked like Gerbera Daisies. This horizontal version starts with that strip of In Good Taste DSP adhered to a Rich Razzleberry card base.
Focal Point Layer—I stamped the flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black ink this time. colored one of the flowers with Rich Razzleberry Light & Dark Blends and the other two flowers with Calypso Coral Light & Dark Blends. The flower centers are colored with Soft Suede Dark. The stamped layer is mounted on Gray Granite again, but this time it's tied with some Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. So sweet!
