Changing Leaves Blending Brushes Card

Use Host Code HJ94YPAX For Changing Leaves Class!

Do you use Blending Brushes? I shared two ways to add color with Blending Brushes during my Changing Leaves class. Scroll to my class card project below.

But first, today is the Stamp Sale…

In this LIVE Class, you’ll make 5 cards featuring the Changing Leaves Hybrid Bundle. This versatile autumn set includes stamps, dies and a hybrid embossing folder, allowing you to cut and emboss several of the leaves in one pass through the die-cutting machine. I’ve paired the bundle with the beautiful Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper to create a variety of looks with pops of gold foil.

I love all of the gorgeous blues on this Changing Leaves class card, especially when accented with pops of gold! Pull out your Blending Brushes to add some color to the DSP and focal point element on this one.

I started by adding some Lost Lagoon ink to the ends of a 2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper using a Small Blending Brush. I just kept layering on color until it got to the darkness that I wanted. TIP: After picking up color on the brush, start blending in circles off the DSP first to get that “blob” of color off of the brush. I adhered the DSP to a Misty Moonlight card base.

Next, I stamped the large Changing Leaves image in Pool Party ink all over a 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ Lost Lagoon background. That’s layered onto a 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock. Then, I added a 4-3/4″ x 1/2″ piece of Pool Party across the bottom. Those layers are also mounted onto the card front with SEAL Adhesive.

I used the Changing Leaves Hybrid Dies and Embossing Folder to create the large leaf die-cut in Basic White. The cool Hybrid feature allows you to die-cut and emboss in one pass through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. However, I enjoy die-cutting first, then running it through the embossing folder the second time, just because I don’t like my folder getting so cut up when I’m running through tons of pieces for my class kits.

To make the leaf colorful, I used Small Blending Brushes: one adding Lost Lagoon and another adding some Misty Moonlight. I kept my coloring soft and mottled. Then, I adhered the leaf with SEAL Adhesive.

Next, I stamped a Misty Moonlight Changing Leaves leaf onto Basic White, die-cut it with the coordinating die and adhered it with SEAL. I die-cut a small Gold Foil leaf, too, and adhered that with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. (In the video and in the class kits, you’ll receive gold Textured Metallic leaves, which look WAY better!)

I stamped the Changing Leaves sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto a Changing Leaves Basic White label die-cut. It’s popped up with Dimensionals.

I added a few gold Metallic Gems around the focal point to finish. So lovely!
