Chic Boutique Aviary CASE

When I don't feel particularly creative, which seems to be way more than I would like, I can usually get myself motivated by CASEing someone else's beautiful project.  Sometimes, as I begin working on the project, I'll become inspired and add my own touches as I go along.  Other times, I simply adore the original card, so I don't change much.

In this CASE, I created a lovely, very chic card originally designed by Mary Fish, and I only changed the sentiment.  I'm normally not a pink and black fan, but this one really stood out and I had to make my very own!  Plus, I had been dying to play with my new Aviary stamp set!

Everything about this card screams Trés Chic (which is so appropriate, since Mary calls her Stampin' Pretty blog her "Fun & Chic Stampin' Up! Boutique!"  Hmmmm.  I think I may end up liking Melon Mambo and Black after all!

First of all, I love, love, LOVE the Aviary stamp set!  I don't even like bird stamps too much, yet these cute little winged friends are so adorable!  And all the different styles of charming cages give you lots of versatility for creating scenes.  I can't wait to try out more!  I'm envisioning a Christmas scene…window-shopping at the bird store…with a cute awning…hmmm.

Card Details: This card is 5-1/4" square, which fits perfectly in the Medium Square Envelopes (but requires extra postage to mail).  I stamped the Bella Toile background in Black on Melon Mambo card stock.

I also got to use a few things from the Holiday Mini Catalog!  The square scallop piece is cut from the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die.  This is a "sexy" rather than "scary" way to use the Black Raven Lace Trim, and the Black Flourish Designer Jewels.  And, I like the use of two different black ribbons; the other one is 1/4" grosgrain.

The little flowers are punched with one of the Itty Bitty Punches.  I didn't have a melon colored button, but the Rich Razzleberry one still works OK.  The sentiment is from Heard From The Heart.

You know, after copying someone else's project, it always gets me in the mood to try more on my own!  Try CASEing a card that you like, and before you know it, your creativity will be flourishing, too!

Stamp with you soon!
