Come Sail Away Layered Accents Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

During my monthly Too Cool Team event on Monday, I did a quick poll on everyone's favorite thing from the catalog.  It's no surprise that the top two items were the Magnolia Lane suite and Come Sail Away suite. Both are phenomenal in terms of coordinating items and versatility!  Today, I'm sharing two cool Come Sail Away swap cards I recently received that both feature some awesome layered accents!

Sailing Home - Mary Anne Grimmer 1
Swap card received from Mary Anne Grimmer at www.mastampstudio.net.

Come Sail Away Direction of Your Dreams Card
The first card was created by Mary Anne Grimmer and features one of my favorite non-traditional styles of cards.

Card Basics—The base of this card is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" quarter sheet of Night of Navy. The actual Whisper White card layer measures 5-1/4" x 7" and scored at the 3" mark.

Sailing Home - Mary Anne Grimmer 2

Background Basics—Mary Anne added a 1" x 5-1/4" strip of Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper to the inside right edge of the card.  Then she repeatedly stamped the Come Sail Away sailboat image in Night of Navy ink all over the front flap of the card.  This part of the card is adhered to the card base with Tear & Tape for a secure hold.

Background Accents—Next, Mary Anne created a cool Soft Suede rope accent with the Smooth Sailing dies. If you look closely, you can see the rope is embossed onto the cardstock…such a sweet detail!  She adhered that border accent with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. She also stamped the Sailing Home rope image in Night of Navy ink onto a 4" x 1-1/4" piece of Night of Navy cardstock, then banner cut the end and adhered it onto the card front with SNAIL.

Bundle It & SAVE—Purchase the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing dies together as a bundle to save 10%.

Sailing Home - Mary Anne Grimmer 3
Sweet Sentiment—Mary Anne stamped the Sailing Home sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White, then die-cut it with the Smooth Sailing dies. Before adhering it, she stamped the anchor image in Soft Suede ink onto Soft Suede cardstock and die-cut it with the coordinating die.  I love the way she tied the Come Sail Away Baker's Twine through the anchor. She used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to hold the twine to the card front, then popped up the sentiment label and anchor with some Dimensionals.  She added a little Sailing Away ships wheel trinket to the layers with a couple of Glue Dots.  The layers and detail are Too Cool!

Sailing Home - Sandra Hernandez 1

Swap card received from Sandra Hernandez and InkStampLuv.

Come Sail Away Thanks Card

Today's second card is a swap card I received from Sandra Hernandez and also uses some of the amazing accents from the Come Sail Away suite.

Background Basics—Sandra's card begins with a Pretty Peacock card base.  She stamped the Sailing Home compass image in Soft Suede ink all over a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Soft Suede card stock. She layered that onto a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Crumb Cake and mounted it onto the card base. Next, she cut a 3" x 4" piece of the coordinating Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper for an off-set focal point foundation.  Before adhering it with SNAIL, she stamped the Sailing Home seagulls in Pretty Peacock on the upper right corner.

Sailing Home - Sandra Hernandez 3

Focal Point Sentiment—Next, Sandra stamped the Sailing Home lighthouse and sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink onto Whisper White and die-cut them with the Smooth Sailing dies.  Those are layered and popped up with Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches—She stamped the Sailing Home anchor in Soft Suede ink onto matching cardstock and die-cut that with the Smooth Sailing dies and added that with more Dimensionals.  Next, she die-cut the Crumb Cake rope accent with the same dies and used Glue Dots to attach it. She finished by adding a coordinating Sailing Away trinket with a Glue Dot.  Sweet details!
