Cookie Cutter Christmas Cable Knit Santa Card
The Santa image from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set is so fun to color! But, I think my absolute favorite part of this card is the cool sweater embossed texture on the background! Let's take a closer look…
Background Basics—This card starts with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the NEW Cable Knit Dynamic Texture Impressions Folder. This sweater texture is very deeply embossed, so it looks and feels amazing! The 6×6" "dynamic" folders are much thicker than traditional embossing folders, so you run them through the Big Shot with just one cutting pad.
TIP: Sometimes the deep impressions may create tiny tears in the card stock. You may want to spritz the paper with a little water to help it emboss successfully. I didn't have to spritz mine, however.
I layered a 4" x 2" piece of Candy Cane Lane Designer Series paper onto a 4" x 2-1/8" piece of Basic Black card stock, then adhered it to the background.
Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Cookie Cutter Christmas saying in Memento Black Ink onto a 4" x 1/2" strip of Whisper White, then attached that to the DSP. After tying some Real Red twine from the Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine duo pack, I adhered the whole background onto a Crumb Cake card base.
Santa Cookie—I stamped the Santa image in Memento Black Ink onto Whisper White, then colored him in using Classic Inks and a Blender Pen. I used Real Red for the suit, Blushing Bride for the face, Sahara Sand for the buckle, and Black for the rest. He was cut out with the coordinating Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, then popped up with Dimensionals.
TIP #1: Squeeze the ink pad before opening to transfer some ink to the lid, then use that as your palette to pick up ink with the Blender Pen.
TIP #2: The Basic Black ink has recently been replaced by Archival Black Ink, but that permanent ink does not blend well and tends to dry out the Blender Pen. Instead, I scribbled a little ink from my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker onto an acrylic block, then used that as my palette.
Santa Hat—Did you notice that little fluffy ball on Santa's hat? It's a little pompom from the Mini Pompom Trim, adhered with a dab of Multipurpose Glue. Too cute!
Two Cool—Each class kit comes with enough supplies to create 4 each of the 3 card designs. The kit also includes a 1/2 pack of the Candy Cane Lane DSP, so class participants can select their own patterns to feature on each card. I experimented a striped pattern for this second card, and moved the focal point to the top.
Three Cool—Another one at the top with Santa moved to the other side.
Four Cool—A final version with the candy cane striped twine.
Bundle It & SAVE—Save 10% off the cost of ordering the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and Cookie Cutter Builder Punch separately, when you purchase them together in the Cookie Cutter Christmas Bundle!
