Penguin Place cool with shades - two cool

Penguin Place Coolest Friend with Shades Cards
Oh my goodness…these penguins are the coolest! I couldn't wait to play with the Penguin Place stamp set after I saw fellow demonstrator Cindy Baughman adorning them with cool shades! They are so easy to make with the Penguin Builder Punch! Talk about Too Cool!

Also, I CASEd this cool card style from a swap card that Deb Snyder sent me. She is always so clever and creative with her cards! Thanks for the awesome idea, Deb!

Background Basics—This fun pocket-style card has a two-part card base. The card pocket base is created with a 4-1/4" x 9" piece of Fresh Freesia, scored at the 5-1/2" and 8" marks. I folded the card base back at the 8". The bottom of the front panel is decorated with a 4" x 1-1/2" piece of Penguin Place Designer Series Paper, then the folded back panel is decorated with a 4" x 3/4" piece of coordinating paper. I adhered the folded-back panel with SEAL Adhesive. Remember, if you place an order for $50 or more during Sale-a-Bration, you can earn a FREE Penguin Playmates DSP pack. Cool!

Then, I tied some Black & White Gingham Ribbon around the bottom to keep the pocket closed. You could always add adhesive to the sides of the pocket, but it's not necessary.

I also stamped the Penguin Place snow image all over the background in Fresh Freesia ink.

Pocket Insert—The second part of the card is a Misty Moonlight piece measuring 3-1/4" x 9" and scored and folded at the 4-1/2" mark to make a pocket insert. I stamped a Penguin Place sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink at the top of a 2-3/4" x 4" Basic White piece, then added another greeting at the bottom.

Cool Penguins—I stamped the penguins in Memento Black ink onto Basic White, then punched them with the Penguin Builder Punch. I added noses and feet images in Pumpkin Pie. I stamped the hat and scarf in Soft Sea Foam on Basic White scrap, hand-cut them and attached them to the penguins. For the shades, I punched the very edge of a thin strip of Black cardstock with the "eye area" of Penguin Builder Punch. Watch the LIVE Class Video Replay to see it in action. The sunglasses are attached with Glue Dots.

I added Dimensionals to the back side of the penguins, leaving about 1/3" of the bottom of the penguins without Dimensionals. Then, I positioned the pocket insert inside the pocket and mounted the penguins so that they were "stoppers" for the insert. In other words, the penguins sit on the edge of the folded-back card front and stop the insert from going any further into the pocket. Again, watch the LIVE video replay to see what I mean.

Two Cool—I made the second version very similar to the first, just swapping out the card base with Soft Sea Foam and stamping the snowflakes in Soft Sea Foam ink.

Cool Penguins—The penguins are the same with Fresh Freesia hat and scarf.

Pocket Insert—I used Just Jade for the pocket insert with the same sentiments. The inside of the insert explains what "lottle" means! LOL!
