Copper Happy Birthday Make A Wish Cards

I've found that you can never have enough birthday cards and the new Happy Birthday Thinlit makes it super-easy to create an elegant birthday greeting! Combine it with the awesome sayings from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set for ultimate versatility!

Background Basics—I started by adhering a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper to a Night of Navy card base. The best part about this card is that you can use ANY piece of designer paper, along with coordinating colors, and it will turn out great! There are so many wonderful new papers in the upcoming catalog—sample them ALL with my budget-friendly Paper Share!

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Happy Birthday Gorgeous greeting in VersaMark Ink near the bottom of a 2-1/4" x 5" piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock. Then, I sprinkled on White Embossing Powder, tapped off the excess and heat set with the Heat Tool until smooth and glossy. I hand-cut a fishtail end with super-sharp Paper Snips, then adhered the banner to the card front with SNAIL.

Birthday Die-Cut—I made a foundation for the greeting with the help of the Layering Circles Framelits and Whisper White card stock, attached to the card front with SNAIL. Then, I die-cut the focal point greeting with the NEW Happy Birthday Thinlit from Copper Foil. To adhere it, I lightly sponged Multipurpose Glue on the back of the die-cut using my Silicone Craft Mat. I finished by adding a few Pearl Jewels underneath.

TIP: I highly recommend using the Precision Base Plate with this die, not only to get clean cuts, but to keep the foil surface smooth and "bump-free." Sometimes when using only the standard cutting plates, the die-cut comes out with impressions on the foil created from the holes in the thinlit. You can see what I mean on the second card below. The Precision Base Plate provides just the right amount of pressure for the best cuts and unblemished surface!

Two Cool—For my second card, I tried another pretty pattern of Delightful Daisy DSP, this time mounted on a Whisper White card base for the background. The sentiment banner is in the NEW Powder Pink In Color card stock! Lovely!

Bumpy Birthday—Look closely and you can see the bumps on the Copper Foil that happen sometimes when using the standard cutting plates with thinlits. If this happens to you, try using a Bone Folder on the back of the die-cut to help flatten out the bumps. You'll get a smooth, clean cut if you substitute the Precision Base Plate for your bottom cutting pad.
