Country Floral Colored Texture Cards

Hi Stamping Friends,

I'm really enjoying the Country Floral Texture Impressions Folder this week. Most embossing folders are a simple, repetitive pattern, but this one has a beautiful variety of blooms, which lends itself to lots of different techniques.  On my last post, I tried the Inked Impressions technique for a soft, elegant background.  Today, I'm coloring directly on the raised texture for a cheerful, spring look!  I shared both techniques on last week's Facebook LIVE and you can catch the replay at the bottom of this post.

Country Floral Colored Texture Cards
I wanted to highlight the beautiful blooms created with the Country Floral embossing folder and the Stampin' Blends Markers are perfect for that!  Because they are alcohol-based markers, they lay down rich, juicy color without leaving marker strokes. The result is a gorgeous and colorful textured background!

Colored country floral - heather

Colored Texture—I embossed a 3" x 4" piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Country Floral embossing folder.  Next, I lightly colored each of the flowers with Stampin' Blends Markers by first outlining the petal or leaf with the bullet-tip end, then coloring it in.  I took care to keep the coloring to the top of the raised areas and leaving the sides white to really accentuate the embossed effect. I used Pool Party for the large rose, Balmy Blue for the larger flowers, Highland Heather for the smaller flowers, Daffodil Delight for the flower centers and Soft Sea Foam for the leaves.

TIP: Use a light touch when coloring. Leaving the nib on the paper too long will cause the ink to quickly bleed into areas you may not want colored.

Background Basics—I adhered the textured layer to a 3-1/8" x 4-1/8" Balmy Blue piece using Tear & Tape Adhesive.  I tied some Gorgeous Grape Mini Striped Ribbon around the layers and popped it up with Dimensionals onto a Highland Heather card base.

Sweet Sentiment—I stamped the Part of My Story sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink onto Whisper White cardstock, then die-cut it using the Layering Ovals Framelits.  It's layered onto a Balmy Blue scalloped circle die cut with the same dies, then popped up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—I experimented with some different colors on my second card.  This time, I selected some warmer flower colors.  I used Petal Pink for the rose, Pumpkin Pie for the larger flower, Rich Razzleberry for the 4-petal flowers and Highland Heather for the smallest flowers.  The leaves are colored with Old Olive light and the flowers centers are either Daffodil Delight or Poppy Parade.  So cheerful!

This time, I layered the blooms onto Mango Melody cardstock and tied on some Pear Pizzazz Shimmer Ribbon. It's popped up onto a Rich Razzleberry card base.

Sweet Sentiment—I left off the scallop oval layer on the sentiment this time and I think I like it better.  It's stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink.
