Hi Stamping Friends!

Today, I have another cute & quick gift card holder to share from our Too Cool Team swap last week courtesy of Darla Eigenschink.  See all the details below!

It's been like Santa's Workshop in my studio this week as I've started creating projects for my upcoming craft fairs.  Here's a sneak peek of the project I'm currently working on…

Sneak peek - note pads with pens

They are little Post-It Note Pad Holders. I'll be blogging about those when I get them finished!

Darla's Cookie Cutter Christmas Gift Card Holder Card

Darla's gift card holder is a simple, cute & easily-constructed design that can be decorated in all kinds of ways!  She created several versions for our team swap.

Pull off the belly band to open up the gift card holder and the gift card pops up!  It's a lot easier to create than it might appear.  Let's break it down step-by-step:

Basic Gift Card Holder

  • Start with a 4" x 10" piece of card stock.
  • Using the Simply Scored Tool, score along the 10" side at 3", 6-1/2", 7-1/2", 8-1/2".
  • Fold on all score lines. The 7-1/2" fold will be a mountain fold to eventually become the top of the pop-up gift card pocket.
  • Add a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the bottom of that pop-up panel (just to the right of the 6-1/2" score line).
  • Use the Classic Label Punch to punch out a notch on the 7-1/2" fold.  Punch once leaving about 1/4" on the side, then slide the punch down and punch again to continue the notch.  The gift card should fit snugly inside the pocket.
  • Round all the corners with the Corner Rounder Punch.
  • Decorate!

Gift Card Front Panels—Darla decorated the top front panel of this Garden Green card holder with a 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of This Christmas Designer Series Paper.  The bottom panel has coordinating DSP measuring 3-3/4" x 2-1/4".  Each panel has two corners rounded to match the corners of the gift card holder.

Belly Band—The belly band closure is a 4-1/2" x 1" strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock wrapped around the gift card and adhered on the ends with Fast Fuse.  TIP: No need to score this.  Simply wrap it around the holder and pinch the sides to fold.  It should be snug, but still allow the band to slide off and on easily.

Belly Band Décor—Darla decorated the band with a 2" Circle punched from Very Vanilla and embossed with the Cable Knit Texture Impressions folder.  That's adhered directly onto the belly band.  Next, she stamped the Cookie Cutter Christmas reindeer onto Crumb Cake card stock with Memento Black ink, then punched it with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch and popped it up with Dimensionals.

Two Cool—Darla did another version with the gingerbread man and another pattern from This Christmas DSP.  He's stamped in Early Espresso with a Cherry Cobbler bow tie, both punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  She colored in his outfit with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The belly band is Very Vanilla and the Cable Knit circle is Garden Green.

Darla this christmas gift card holder - eskimo

Three Cool—Another version featured the snowflake pattern from This Christmas DSP and the eskimo from Cookie Cutter Christmas.  He's stamped in Memento Black Ink, colored with Soft Suede ink & a Blender Pen, and punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  The holder base and belly band is Cherry Cobbler, and the Cable Knit circle is Basic Black.

Four Cool—This version features the Cookie Cutter Christmas Santa colored in with Classic Inks and a Blender Pen, then punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  The background is another pattern from This Christmas DSP on a Garden Green holder base.  The belly band is Crumb Cake and Cable Knit circle is Garden Green.

Complete Supplies List—"Clear" means a rubber stamp on a clear block. "Photopolymer" is see-thru.
