Darla’s Letterpress Winter Snowflakes “Brrr” Card

Current Classes & Special Promotions!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Looks like winter is set to arrive later today and stick around for quite awhile!  It's expected to hit 58° today, but everything starts going downhill after noon.  By tomorrow, the high is supposed to be 36° and snow is possible. Then, all I see are 30s for the highs for the rest of our 10-day forecast!  Brrr! I'm not ready to be chilled to the bone yet!

I know several of my stamping friends to the North and West have already had some white stuff, so who am I to complain?  Just gives me an excuse to spend more time in my stamp room, right!

The thought of It reminded me of a fabulous card that Darla Eigenschink shared with our team last month.  I'll get to that in a second, but first…

So, here's that fabulously cool card by Darla!

Darla - brrr 1 copy

I absolutely adore this card, snow and all!

Background Basics—Darla started with a Smoky Slate background and added a 3-1/4" x 4" piece of Night of Navy card stock to one side.  She also added a 2" x 4" piece of the All Is Calm Designer Series Paper to the other side, and a 1/2" wide strip down the seam.

Brrr-illiant Find!  Do you recognize the "Brrr" die-cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper?  I sure didn't!  Come to find out it's from the Snowflake Card Thinlits set!

Well, I know…the words are backwards…but trust me, it's there!  There are also "snow" and "joy" die-cuts, too!  Who knew?!  Darla did apparently!  Funny how easy it is to overlook parts & pieces until someone points them out to you!

Snowflake Foundation—Darla first cut the Whisper White snowflake shape from the Snowflake Card Thinlit by running it through the Big Shot, then she turned it 90° (ahhh, 90° sounds pretty good right now), and ran it through again.  Learn how easy it is in this this Snowflake Card Thinlit Video from Stampin' Up!

Once the white snowflake was die-cut, it was easy to line up the all-clear, Letterpress Winter photopolymer stamp over the top and stamp it with Night of Navy ink.

Sparkle & Shine—Darla used the same Snowflake Card Thinlit to die-cut the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper snowflake, which she popped up with a tiny piece of a Dimensional.  She finished the snowflake with a small Silver Foil snowflake die-cut, added with Multipurpose Glue.  Wow!  I love how those layers look together!

Snowflake Sequins—A few random Frosted Sequins, adhered with Multipurpose Glue, gives the look of falling snow.  I love that she topped the snowflake sequins with one of the tiny silver sequins for a little more bling!  Very nice!
