As soon as I saw the greeting "I love you THIS much" in the Dino Days stamp set, it made me think of creating a gate-fold card to mimic the opening of arms! Of course, that adorable dinosaur's arms are so short…you can't help but laugh! Be sure to watch the LIVE Class Replay for a step-by-step tutorial of today's cards.
Background Basics—I started with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Pretty Peacock card base, scored at the 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" marks to create a gate-fold. TIP: Before creasing, line up the edges of the two sides nice and flush, then use a Bone Folder to crease it into the correct position.
I decorated each side with a 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" panel of Dinoroar Designer Series Paper.
Circle Medallion—I inked the Dino Days tree trunk in Soft Suede, stamped off once, then stamped onto the largest Stitched Shapes circles in Whisper White cardstock. I added Pear Pizzazz branches coming out of the top of the trunk. I attached the circle with Dimensionals to the left gate only.
Dashing Dino—The dinosaur is created with two die-cut shapes. First, I stamped the dino in Pear Pizzazz ink and the matching plates spine in Pretty Peacock ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock. I die-cut with the Dino dies. The spine die-cut actually has some extra white border on one side of the shape, giving you room to add adhesive to attach it to the back of the dino shape. Too Cool! I popped him up with Dimensionals. I finished by punching out a Mango Melody heart with the Dog Builder Punch, then popping that up, too.
Sweet Sentiment—I created a foundation for the sentiment by adding 1-7/8" x 1" pieces of Mango Melody cardstock to the panels. Next, I stamped the Dino Days sentiment in Pretty Peacock onto a 3" x 5/8" strip of Whisper White, fishtailing the ends.
I layered the greeting onto a 3-1/4" x 1/2" strip of Old Olive, then popped it up onto the right gate with Dimensionals. I love the interlocking look of these fun, gate-fold elements!
Inside—I stamped a little peeking dinosaur at the bottom in Pear Pizzazz with a Pretty Peacock spine. Isn't he super-cute?!
Two Cool—I used the same basic card layout with a change of colors and dinosaurs on this version! I started with a Lovely Lipstick card base and added two different Dinoroar DSP patterns.
Dashing Dino—This dino was super-easy…it's die-cut directly from the Dinoroar DSP! How cool that the dies work with the stamps AND paper!
Sweet Sentiment—This time, my Mango Melody border is 1-7/8" x 1/2" and I stamped some Mango Melody foot prints across the front. The Pretty Peacock sentiment is stamped onto a 1-1/2" x 1" piece of Pool Party cardstock and popped up.
Inside—Don't forget to stamp a little dino peeking in! This one is stamped in Pool Party ink with Pear Pizzazz plates, just like the dinos on the DSP on the front of the card. How sweet!
