Marsha's Cozy Cottage Home Card
If you love to color, the Cozy Cottage host set is so much fun! My team member Marsha Henry created this lovely card for our team swap. We were so impressed with all of her amazing coloring that must have taken hours to complete all the swaps! We were even more impressed when she said she used EVERY RETIRING COLOR on the image! WOW! Great job, Marsha!
Pretty Focal Point—Marsha started by stamping the Cozy Cottage image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 4" x 3" piece of Whisper White cardstock. The corners were rounded with the Envelope Punch Board (but, we're getting a corner rounder punch in the new catalog!).
Clever Coloring—Marsha used every single retiring color of Stampin' Write Marker to color in this detailed image: Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Wisteria Wonder…WOW! Can you find them all?!
After the first piece was colored, it was mounted onto an Elegant Eggplant card base.
Great Gate—Next, Marsha stamped the gate image onto a 4" x 1-1/8" piece of Whisper White and colored that in with markers, as well. After tying some Elegant Eggplant Baker's Twine around the layer, she popped it up with Dimensionals.
Sweet Sentiment—Finally, she stamped the sentiment in Memento Black onto a 4" x 1/2" strip of Whisper White, fishtailed the end and popped that up with more Dimensionals.

Cozy Cottage Enjoy The Simple Things Card
Oooh, here's another charming Cozy Cottage card beautifully colored with markers, too! This one is a stepped up version because it has the look of a picture inside of a faux-wood picture frame. The inside of the Hardwood pattern layer is cut out with a craft knife for this technique! If you don't want to go to the trouble, simply layer the two pieces together without cutting a hole. It's a fun look either way!
This project also uses the retiring Yay You Host stamp set, as well as the retiring Stamp-a-Ma-Jig and Night of Navy Corduroy Ribbon.
Step-By-Step Instructions:
- Using Stamp-a-ma-jig and the Memento ink, stamp the Cozy Cottage cottage, fence/gate and chair images onto the 5” x 3-3/4” Whisper White Thick Cardstock
- Color in stamped images with your choice of Stampin’ Blends, taking care to extend colors beyond black images so they bleed off the cardstock piece.
- Stamp Hardwood image with Soft Suede ink onto 5-1/4” x 4” Soft Suede cardstock.
- Using the scrap and a pencil, trace the outer side of it onto the back of the Soft Suede piece being careful to center it.
- Using a hobby blade, ruler, and cutting mat cut on pencil lines of Soft Suede to create a frame.
- Using very thin strips of Multipurpose Liquid Glue along the edges of the Whisper White cardstock front, adhere the Soft Suede frame and let dry.
- Stamp sentiment from Yay You in Old Olive ink on Old Olive cardstock and cut out with 1-3/8” die from Stitched Shapes Framelits.
- Cut out 1-7/16” scalloped circle from Layering Circles Framelits in Old Olive cardstock and adhere sentiment to the scalloped circle with SNAIL.
- Color three of the smallest Rhinestone Basic Jewels with Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends marker and adhere just beneath sentiment.
- Wind ribbon from front to back, tie in bow on upper left of frame piece and trim ends with Paper Snips.
- Using 2 Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere sentiment to front of frame piece.
- Using 5 Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere frame piece to Old Olive card base.
