Thankful Garden Layered Hydrangea Card

My Lovely Garden Class Kit earning period now ends on May 3, to accommodate the Double Rewards Promotion! Here is one of my favorite cards from the class!

Background Basics

I started by stamping the Thankful Garden hydrangea image in Blueberry Bushel ink onto a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Blueberry Bushel, creating a lovely all-over, tone-on-tone pattern. I adhered it onto a 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece of Basic Black cardstock, then mounted it to a Blueberry Bushel card front. I also added a 5″ x 3/4″ strip of Lovely Garden Designer Series Paper across the bottom for a little visual texture.

Focal Point Flower

I stamped the Thankful Garden flower in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink twice onto Basic White cardstock. I used the Thankful Garden Masks, along with Blending Brushes, to add soft colors to the image. One both flowers, I started by blending on some light Coastal Cabana ink with mask 1. On flower #1, I used mask 2 to add light Blueberry Bushel ink for a second layer. On flower #2, I did the same, but deepened the color by adding on more ink.

On flower #1, I also used the leaf masks 1 & 2 to blend on Garden Green ink, then I die-cut the flower with the coordinating Thankful Garden die. I adhered the flower to the card front with SEAL Adhesive.

On flower #2, I used a Thankful Garden die to die-cut the trio of blooms on the hydrangea. Then, I used my super-sharp Paper Snips to hand-cut several more blooms. I popped each up over their corresponding place with some Dimensionals for a cool, layered look.

Sweet Sentiment

I stamped the sentiment using two Thankful Garden stamps with Memento Black ink onto a Basic White Stylish Shapes circle die-cut. It’s popped up with more Dimensionals.

Finishing Touches

I tied a white Baker’s Twine bow and attached it with a pinched Glue Dot. I finished the card with a few white Starburst Sequins floating around the flower. Gorgeous!
