Dragonfly Garden Thanks Center-Easel Card
I've discovered that many of my card recipients like to save my cards…some even hang them up to display them. Today's card style is perfect for displaying on a shelf or tabletop as a cheerful reminder of your thoughtfulness! It would make a fantastic Mother's Day card with the right sentiment!
Center Easel Fold Basics—I started with a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Basic White cardstock, scored at the 4-1/4" mark, like a traditional card. Then, I cut the card front at the 1-1/2" and 4" marks from the edge of the card down to the score line. I finished by making a horizontal score line on the center panel at the 2-1/8" mark to create the fold for the easel.
Next, I added a 3" x 4" piece of Smoky Slate cardstock onto the center of the inside of the card, then adhered both outer panels of the card front down to the card, so they do not open. I decorated each with a 1-1/4" x 4" piece of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper, which is retiring May 3.
Sweet Sentiment Kickstand—Every easel card needs a "kickstand" piece that holds the easel in place. I created mine by stamping a Dragonfly Garden sentiment in Basic Gray ink onto a 3-1/4" x 7/8" strip of Basic White. I fishtail cut both ends, then popped up the greeting with Dimensionals.
Focal Point—I die-cut a Stitched Shapes Dies (now retired) circle from Basic White and stamped the Dragonfly Garden wildflowers image onto it with Petal Pink ink. Next, I punched out a Smoky Slate tiny dragonfly with the Dragonflies Punch, then attached it with a Glue Dot. The circle was then mounted onto the easel with SEAL Adhesive. I added a single Elegant Faceted Gem to the bitty dragonfly. Some Wink of Stella glimmer adds a little shimmer to the flowers.
Finishing Touches—I finished by tying some Petal Pink Striped Organdy Ribbon around the top part of the easel panel, so it gives it a nice look when the card lays flat. It all fits nicely into an envelope. You might want to tip off the recipient that the card is an easel card, because they might not get it if they've never seen once before.
Two Cool—My second version has the same Basic White card base, but this time I added the new Fresh Freesia In Color cardstock to the inside. I decorated the outer panels with Blackberry Bliss patterns from the Dandy Garden DSP, retiring June 30.
Easel Decor—I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss, the wildflowers in NEW Fresh Freesia and punched a Blackberry Bliss dragonfly for this one. The gem on the dragonfly is a Fresh Freesia color from the NEW In Color Jewels…so faceted, iridescent and sparkly!
I finished up with the NEW Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon…so soft and pretty!
