Eastern Palace Recessed Circles Cards

The Eastern Medallion Framelits are very cool dies without a doubt!  I love that they create an intricate circular window pattern on a solid piece of card stock.  They almost have the feel of a stained glass window!  Combine them with the Eastern Beauty stamps and the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers for all kinds of layered medallion effects!  We'll be experimenting with this look at my "Last Thursdays" card class this week!

Background Basics—I started with an 8" x 5-1/2" piece of Fresh Fig card stock, scored at 4-1/4".  The shorter size of the card front allowed me to add an Eastern Gold Vinyl Sticker as the border on the inside of the card that can be seen when the card is closed.  Too Cool!

Delightful Die-Cuts—For the decorated layer, I begin by die-cutting the three sizes of circles on a 3" x 4-3/4" piece of Very Vanilla, making sure to leave room for the small Eastern Beauty sentiment at the bottom.  I ran all three through the Big Shot at the same time. Typically, I would recommend using a Precision Base Plate for intricate dies, but I found that I didn't need them for these.  The pieces came out of the die-cut really easily, and the cut pieces released from the die with the help of a Die Brush or Paper Piercing Tool.

Lovely Stamped Layers—Next, I added some Eastern Beauty stamped accents to give detail to the medallions.  I stamped some Lemon Lime Twist dotted circles around the small and medium die-cuts, and a Tranquil Tide ring inside the larger die-cut.  I stamped the sentiment in Fresh Fig.  Then, I added some additional stamps in Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide to fill in the blank spaces.

TIP: To see where to stamp the rings a little easier, especially if your stamp is stained, I recommend adding a dark contrasting color behind the die-cut layer, so you can really see where the cuts are very clearly.

Gorgeous Gold Stickers—I completed the patterns by adding several Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers to the center of the large die-cut and some smaller circles in the blank spaces.  Love these easy-to-add, shiny-gold accents!  Each one of those gold decorative rings can be used separately, but you can carefully lift them from the sticker sheet so they can all be attached at the same time, without breaking them apart, for perfect positioning.

Recessed Circles—I finished by popping the decorative layer with Dimensionals over a 3-1/8" x 4-7/8" piece of Dapper Denim, then mounting that on the card front.

Two Cool—I created a second version using new Berry Burst as the card base.

I tried a different sticker border pattern on this one.  I swapped out Berry Burst ink in place of Fresh Fig to match the card stock.

I also tried out some different stamped accents in Lemon Lime Twist and some different gold circle stickers.  So much fun playing with different looks!  Can't wait to do this card at my class!
