Elegant Lattice Cross First Communion Cards

Hi Stamping Friends!

I had a wonderful weekend celebrating the first Communions for two of my nieces and today I'm sharing the cards I created for them.

I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to use the beautiful Lattice Bigz Die one last time to make this pretty cross.  I snuck in lots of other retiring items, too!

Lattice Cross—I started by die-cutting the lattice shape from Island Indigo.  If you look closely at the lattice shape, you can see how the cross runs corner-to-corner.  To achieve the final shape, I carefully trimmed away the extra sections with Paper Snips.

This is one of my favorite uses for this die…the cross is so pretty!  It's a versatile shape that is perfect for all kinds of special religious occasions like Baptisms, confirmations and weddings.  It's also appropriate for sympathy and thinking of you cards.  So sad to see this one go.

Adornments—I decorated the cross with some retired Rosette Trim that I dipped into the Pool Party ink pad.  Underneath, I added some Pear Pizzazz leaves punched from the Bird Builder Punch.  Multipurpose Glue works great for adhering both layers.

Beautiful Background—The Hello, Doily stamp created a lovely backdrop for the cross.  It's stamped in Pool Party ink on the bottom corner of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  I added more detail by running the sheet through the Big Shot with the soon-to-retire Framed Tulips embossing folder.

Sentiment—I didn't have many greeting stamps that would work for a first Communion, so I dug up an old stamp set called Brighter Tomorrow.  It's stamped in Island Indigo onto Very Vanilla and punched with the Decorative Label Punch.  I added two halves of another Decorative Label shape in Pool Party to frame the top and bottom of the popped up sentiment.

My second version is done with a color combo of Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder.  Which color do you like better?

I also made a few of these cards to sell at a local store here in Fort Wayne called Memories of You.  Be sure to check out this store if you are in the area and are looking for items to honor the memories of your loved ones.
